Drum Beat

Not sure if any of you heard a song called "crystal" by New Order, I need some recommendations on which is the best drum loop/synth program on the market should I choose in order to have that kind of realistic sound.

I tried FruityLoops, the realistic drum set sounded o.k., but, anything better than that? :smartass:

My advice: KONTAKT - it's a multi-path sampler with LOADS of great and realistic soundbanks available for it. Combining this (as a virtual instrument (VST/DX)) with Fruity Loops or Cubase will fulfill all your dreams. I swear that this is a monster when we talk about drums. I mean look at him:

You could also try BATTERY, it's very good too. Gosh, look at Native Instruments home page.

i hear good things about cubase

Cubase and Reason are very good, but they are sequencers, not synthesisers. OK, they are 'workstations', providing instruments, sound banks and drum machines. But this man needs a very good drum synthesiser. It's always like that external additions for apps are better. Look at plugins for Photoshop such as KPT. Cubase and Reason are great as a hosts for virtual instruments mentioned by me above. I think so ^_^

Thanks a lot, guys.

I'm gonna try all these apps you guys mentioned!!! :rockband:

I can always hear drum machines and I've owned/tried em all. I use nuendo 2 for tracking and I gave up using samples for drums with either kontakt or hypersonic. I always find myself going back to real drummers. I guess it works for some genres of music but definitely not the one's I'm interested in.

i've got a nice collection of drum samples for in WAV format, (that i use in FruityLoops)

i wouldn't say that just because a program (like fruityloops) doesn't come with all the samples you want, it's a bad program..

the best part of programs like that, is that you can use 3rd party samples.

most of my samples, i found with google..

there's a really good set of drum samples.

i got some of them from the Kalava Drum Archive. unfortunatly that site went down Feb 03

you might want to check out this site though

...i just got my midi keyboard hooked up to my computer, would any of the above progs work? I need something similar to garage band. As in i play a couple of things record them, and then play them at the same time.

#112537

Go get Fruity Loops, it's easiest for the start and works lovely with keyboards ;)

#112602

if you are going to be using MIDI, i would reccommend FruityLoops.

however, if you are going to tie in gutair, or any other live instruments, i would reccommend pulling the result from FruityLoops along with the live recording, into SonicFoundry's ACID.

And later switch to Samplitude Studio, it's a monster ;)

yeah its also $430....

i think it should be a crime to charge that much for software!

Out of personal experience, Fruity Loops is a really good program for those (like me) who don't even know how to play a real instrument or read music or anything. I just have a strong admiration for music, so I tried it out, and it wasnt too terrible.

I have heard that :woot: Radiohead :woot: uses Logic and Cubase.

Just a thought...

sorry to be the dissident but fruity loops blows unless you wanna make music for a mario brothers video game.

The only real solutions for pc are cubase or nuendo2 Expensive but obtainable if you know how.

I've used garage band now as I got a mac and it's great for what you guys want. There is nothing like it on pc right now as far as ease of use and quality. That being said I recommend you pick up cubase cheap and then look for the vst intruments that you want/need. I.e piano etc.

i also use Natural studio's Drumkit version 7, very very nice, im a drummer and going to buy a newkit in a couple months, but these are pretty good wav samples to use with a program like fruityloops and stuff

fruityloops does not blow unless you know how to use it to its full extent. I only use it to make Drum beats with, and that depends on the wav sample not fruity loops, so my real sounding wav high quality samples sound good, it will sound good in fruityloops. Although fruityloops does look more like the techno dance like music program, even though i use it jsut for drumming.
