News

Okay guys, let me explain the situation :)

This year at my school we have to do a free project. Some do games, others non related to computers, and others robotics etc...

Well, what I'm trying to do is to present iEx as my free project :)

It would be greate cause I would be working on it more often :)

The objective would be to make a BETTER clone than Exposé itself.

With plugin, 3D and stuff.

Also, we are considering at maybe do a cross compilable version (Windows AND Unix if we use OpenGL), but that's not in the program for now.

Well, that's the objective :) What's real is that I could work on it very often :)

Free project are made by at least 2 persons, so I would be developing it with a friend :)

And maybe later start a sourceforge project :)

It was to let you know :)

Have a nice day :)

That is GREAT news!!!!

I wish you guys ALL the best!

#110723

All the best, all the best, all the best...! :woot:

#110731

Thats awesome, being able to do what you like, for a project. Hope it comes out really good. About your friend...is there anyone in your school thats good enough to work the almighty siwu? :P, i know no one in my school would be able to match up to your programming ability.

#110734

thats fantastic news.

#110759

great!!!!

#110774

Awesome

#110776

amazing Siwu, your progress test apps are incredibly amazing, and i cant wait to see future progress. Also if you do happen to do a Unix/Xserver port to use openGL on X that would be simply incredible

Whoa!

These are indeed great news!

Siwu, i salute you, Sir! :enter salute smiley here:

I don't suppose that DirectX or openGLs pixel-shifting abilities would allow you to make a similar effect to the genie effect to add-on to iEx? A kind of "Genie all windows to bottom"? :shy:

#110920

that genie thing would be cool, especially if it'd be a docklet, but i'm mnore excited about your next windows tiling prog release. :)

#111327

hey

im very excited also

it would be great to be able to drag things into the windows if thats possible? or even make it so if u drag something over it for say 1sec(defineable) it will zoom in and allow it to be a dragged in :)

cheers

thats an excelent idea.

I'm liking the docklet idea!

Siwu: Just wanted to thank you again for your hard work. Your app really benefits the windows interface, and it sounds like the improvements are only beginning.

It would be interesting for you to make it cross-platform, but that would require a highly modular architecture. It would probably be better to make a unix and windows compiling versions (using varying targets in a Makefile), but I dunno about having them entirely together.

However, I like the idea of a plugin system. It would be interesting as to how you'd approach that, in terms of what you'd extend. There could be cool things to be done in regards to layout. For example, you could build a window layout that lines them up in a row and makes them into a Dock of sorts. Or you could have them in a 3d cube or something. Lots of possibilities. Unfortunately, 3d graphics aren't really may thing (I'm not a fan of linear algebra), so I'll just be one of the many people throwing ideas at you ;)

I liked your last one, hope this is even better :)

Hi Siwu,

We're about to kick off an article covering UI customisation and the mac-i-fication of the modern desktop, I'm tempted to hold off until 0.3 is here at the very least so as to properly write about your efforts with iExpose - can you give any indication if we're likely to see the new build in the next month or so?

Cheers,

Xav

Well, just wait a day or two, cause I'm presenting it monday :)

Hope it will be accepted !!

But I assure you you won't be disapointed it is accepted :)

:)

@Siwu: Thanks for the update! Shall be waiting patiently. ;)

Oh btw... I've got a request here, which might be beneficial for everyone. Do you think you can post a brief list of recommended system specifications to run iEx v0.3? Perhaps it might help reduce posts coming from members who have less-than-required stats to run your app. Just a suggestion. ^_^

One or Two days for what? Presenting the idea to your boss or prof., Siwu? I think s/he SHOULD accept it.... if not.. there's something wrong with that person's mind.
