Introducing iBlink!

Thanks to BieTieKay, we now have a program that will make our menu's blink when clicking them like in OS X. I give you... iBlink!

What iBlink does: Just to clarify any question as to what iBlink is. In Windows XP, when you click a menu, it will fade away. iBlink will change the fade to a really nice blinking effect, just like in OS X! iBlink should run fine on Win9x through XP! For all you people out there who think they can do better, the source code is also included!

if you have problems in the traybar with the context menu; just open the menu with the right-click... and then use the keyboard (up-down arrow) and the enter key.... will work...

thats one bug YOU could solve

One bug though

In IE, when i click on an already entered address in the address drop down, it blinks much longer than its supposed to (i.e. 9-15 times instead of the 3 ive set it for)

the other tool-coders did not implement this feature.... so .. a little tool for a little effect...

Run the executable, have it install to a desired location. Then just go into the folder you put it in, open the folder in it named "Bianary" and there will be "iblink" with a pretty icon.

finaly figured out my problem. had the task bar hidden via object dock. got it working now and think it neat. great little prog.

Bugs: Popup (right click) menu of iBlink freezes and also all popup menus of taskbar items (e.g. you want to close a window over it's taskbar popup menu). Otherwise a real nice app!

Funny thing: the first time you activate iBlink and right-click on its tray icon to change the settings, it works perfectly. From the second time on (and on all the other tray icons, too) it just can't stop blinking, and you can do nothing short of killing it through the Task manager...

What a neat little app, subtle but cool indeed.

Maybe we could compile a list of bugs?

So far we have taskbar menu's and the IE Address list (listbox problem maybe?).

Maybe BieTieKay could share a few hints as to where he thinks it's going wrong?

I wouldn't mind trying to track down a few bugs without having to traverse the entire code...

I've decided to take this under my wing and try to fix the bugs it has, and extend it functionality to be something really usefull.

Here are my ideas,

-Fix all known bugs in the current build (in progress)

-Compare blinks with my Mac to get the OSX timing (default)

-Implement the equivalent of SpringFolders

I would like to try to take this app to the next level, one progam that implements several features not available for free and as a standalone program.

I'm quite new to all these Window events but I'm learning, don't expect an imenent release but I will keep everyone updated on what I'm working on. The first release will only include the first two ideas, then subsequent releases will include requested features and improved functionality.

I'm thinking of something like iFunk; where the taskbar icon dropdown will have specific menus for included apps like iBlink and iSpring with more to follow.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

That sounds great! Maybe you could add some other cool things that us window users could really use to get a more "mac" feel. One suggestion I have that you could implement is the cd icon appearing on the desktop when a cd is loaded and then disappearing when the cd is taken out. A lot of people would really love that! Another great little feature you could include as well would be some kind of alignment thing that would align all the icons on the right side of the screen automatically. If you added in all these little goodies, it would be the perfect mac feel program for windows users! Wow, wouldn't that be great! All those needed effects in just one nice little program! Ahhhhh, I can feel the "mac" now!

EDIT: By the way really nice app BieTieKay. I love but there is one thing that it really needs to have and it is making me sad. We need this iBlink to work with objectbar. I love my new object bar theme thanks to goku and zzpcpzz, and bsiple it looks so real, and I would like to continue to use it. Maybe you can do this jONEZ. That would be the best. I knew there was something missing to all those wonderful ob themes!
