Uptime

Inspired by konig's sig I was wondering about other peoples best uptime. Hopefully this wont turn into a Win/Linux thing. :D

My best is on my current home server. As of 9:08 2/4/04 its: 38d, 20h, 27min.

woaho. have you been doing anything at all on that computer?

i think if you leave windows like that for that long it'll crash on its own.

ps: for you freaks out there dont jump on my back and flame me to defend windows or what ever. im not implying anything.. hmph :6

It basicly shares files and acts as a server for multiplayer games. Normally it doesnt even run explorer. But a blank screen would have boring. :D I control it using VNC. It only has a LAN and a power cable comming from it. Its really quiet and sits in a closet (the reason for the temp).

My mac would still be up without a restart if it wasnt for the apple updates :P

#110265

sweet. 0 days 4 hours and 55 minutes!

edit: i didn't realize it was the best uptime. i just stated my current at the time, hehe. in any case, i turn off my computer every night, so of course it's less than 24 hours.

My computer was only on for one nano-second and it melted into a puddle of silicon, molten metal and plastic. I'm now posting from a friends computer. :banging: :moon:

#110289

The longest I've ever had my PC on was about a month. I went on tour with my brothers band. Hey MetalMusicAddict, you may love them, check them out: In Dire Need

#110313

highest for me is around 2 months, it acted as a server for my friends (game server and file sharing) while i'm away on holidays.

:D

#110326

I was sweatin thinking about contra posting with his uptime. I was sure you had a sick one. :D

#110382

My XP machine at my old job was up a good 2 1/2 months. And yes, I used it all day everyday.

Most my machines only get rebooted because I'm installing something or have a reason to reboot. Otherwise they're fine. windows , linux.. whatever. My biggest killer of uptimes is myself, not of crashes.

#110390

My P133 running Smoothwall has been up for over 8 months now. Does that count :D:P

#110396

i share Tim's experience with my mac, i had it 12 on before this last security update, i dont think there would have been a problem for doubling that (at least)

only if my 203 day p2 400mhz printserver does

Longest uptime i've had was for about 2 months, when i went to europe and i forgot to turn off my laptop and take out the power supply cable, it did absolutley nothing, for 2 straight months. I killed my battery then, now the battery only lasts about 2 hours with a recharge, before it was over 4. :(

#110627

my best is about 17 days. and this when I was constantly using the computer all the time. I lost the logs in a reformat, so I have no proof, but take my word for it, when it finally was restarted, it was in dire need.

ps- XP Pro

#110638

M best uptime is probably around a week. Last semester my laptop was running like a champ, and I modded the crap out of system files. I was amazed. Now i have been restarting like mad, because my computer doesnt like to with my wireless mouse/keyboard when its not booted with them plugged in. <_

#110645

my record for my dell in W2K was 6 days, 9 hours, and 45 minutes (i had it signed onto AIM, which also a record around my school, for the server here usually restarts around 4 or 5am, but not everyday but no pattern either)

my mac i had going for about 20 or 21 days (during the xmas break), i rebooted one day, and decided to leave it on until i was coming back to school (i think there might have been a security update released near the end of my run, which i did right before i went back to school)

edit: my uptime right now is 9 days 12 hours 39 minutes, and im just waiting for 10.3.3 to be available so i can do the java update and safari update with it in one single restart

#110771

hrm... if it wasn't for the restarts, i'd be up for 2 months now.... but if u consider that down-time (which it is), my best was around 15 days.

#110795

My nat server (486 DX2-66 at the time) went up to 107 days last year :)

EDIT: it was OpenBSD 3.0 and I had to update (SSHd weakness!)
