i1)start up desktopx.
2)create a new object by right clicking on the dx icon in the systray and choosing new object
3) when you have created a new object a screen should popup allowing you to configure that object. select add at the additional abilities at the lower part of the screen. choose analog clock 2 for this example. now go to the summary tab. go to the option at the bottum that says object id. change the id to "hands". now click ok. you should see an analog clock on your desktop.
3) to change the clock hands color and size. right click on the object and choose properties. you should see the same screen as you saw before (get used to this screen it is where you change dx objects) select the analog clock ability in the menu at the bottom (get it highlighted) and click on configure. now you can change things about the clock.
4) to make a background to the clock. create a new object. in the screen that popups click on the states tab. near the bottom of the tab there is an option to change the objects image. click and find the image you want. go to the summary tab and change the objects id to "clockback". now click ok. drag the analog clock over on top of the clock background you just made. you could stop there, but to correctly finish the clock you need to set the child-parent relationships (lowers the memory usage and makes the two act as one sortof). right click on the clock hands and choose set parent. now choose "clockback".
5) make it prettier. add a glass front. make a mostly transparent png with a glass affect or whatever you want, just needs to be transparent. now make a new object and set its image to the glass graphic you just made. now change its id to clockglass (setting the id is not required here, but it is good practice since you need an id to access the object from other objects - fun interactions between objects). click ok and you should see the glass object on your desktop. drag and center it over the clock. right click on it and set its parent to "clockback".
6) save the clock. right click on the clock and choose export. pick a name and a place and save. it automatically saves to the dx object directory so you can import it easily later on through the dx import configuration.
you're done.
