carbonfiber, you try making skins for media-x-menu if u havent already. Much more than just a jpeg (video, different fonts, transparent images, screensaver, etc). I currently have a theme called media-osx-menu, including a flurry screensaver. Its not perfect, but i dont have the time to go into great depths with it.
