I need some help, I scrachted my monitor big time and it is driving me insane to look at it. I have absolutely NO money for a new one and have tried just about everything. Any ideas? Its a CRT, not LCD.
Need Major Help, Monitor Scratched
...you could take the glass that you scratched, off, take a hammer and maybe some pliers, try not to break the case or the glass. Try to take the glass covering the actual moniter off, and if you can't try tapping it lightly and cracking it, then taking it off, then try to buy a replacement glass cover, or something to replace the glass, put it there, and you have a almost good as new screen. I don't think theres any other way except for this or buying a new moniter. Theres no magic fix it paste or anything.
Hmmmmm
Mebbe I could just take the glass off and leave it off? then I would be staring at the raw tube, mebbe that would be bad for me...
EDIT
Found some stuff:
i think you could take the glass off and leave it off, but your moniter would give off a lot more radiation therefor increasing your chances of getting cancer, plus, if your moniter ever fell again, it'd be totalled forever, instead of a glass scratch you'd have either a lot of dead pixels, or your moniter might not turn on.
What that stuff does, from the link, is i think burn the glass a little, so the scratch is evened out. It might work a couple times, but i don't recommend using something like that a lot, cuz you might find yoursel with a hole in the center of your screen instead of a scratch.

I just dug up a monitor from the depths of my basement, not flat screen though, semi-flat screen. It kinda blows (no more 1600x1200 GRRR!!) but it's OK for now.
