Seeing as this is my first post try to take it easy on me.
Here are a few preview shots of a theme that I have been working on based on KoL's iTunes and Three Drives' TD 4.0.
If there is enough interest I will see if I can get permission from Three Drives and KoL for elements that I used from their themes.

Are you trying to achieve the brushed effects? Looks pretty good to me.
A smooth variation might be nice. 
Looks good, very garageband-y i like it... make sure you do add different highlight colors, as not everyone might be a fan of the red one

I figured that I would see if there was much interest in this before I added any other varients.
My eval copy of StyleBuilder expires in a few days and wasn't sure if it was worth investing the money for registration.
I chose red as I do most of my computing in a dim environment and found it easy on my eyes.
Other varients should not take too much time to create now that the basics are there.

I might use this, looks good, could you try to remake the red button, it doesnt look quite right.

Can you tell us more specifically what elements you have modded? Like, make a list? Also check Es.xxi's proposed variations on TD4. Obviously very different from your idea, but enthusiastically endorsed by Threedrives.... too bad they're dead though.

It looks nice ,But the progress bar ,Can you change a color ,Red maybe too active and unmatched!
The red is extremely hard to look at, more subtle colors would be nice, and of course a graphite goes without saying...other than that it looks great! (Y)
Yea its great! Swiz is working on a GarageBand theme for ss, so when he is done (actually a while), porting it would be an idea...or you could just continue with this (Y)
Here is a list of modified elements.
KoL - iTunes:
Brushed caption bars. - darkened
Task bar - darkened
Window widgets - fixed the highlight underneath to better match dark windows.
Buttons - changed color to red
Apple start button - changed color to red and fixed highlight underneath
Three Drives - TD 4.0
Progress bar - changed to red
Scroll bars - changed to red
Fonts - style should be identical to TD 4 - different colors to match dark theme
My own elements:
Start menu - used a piece of brushed metal from iTunes, the rest of the design is mine.
Task bar highlighted item - everyone else used a solid highlight color, I recolored a piece of brushed metal to make it fit better with the brushed task bar
Toolbar buttons - again used a piece of brushed metal with a red tint to make it fit better with the brushed theme
Possible/Planned Modifications
Rework the progress bar to a deeper red. Perhaps a sunken background on the bar.
Different colors other then red. Blue, Green, Yellow... etc.
I'll look at the red buttons, but they are pretty cool when in use.

I think it looks fantastic, besides the red buttons and whatnot. I dont thats thats the right tone of red to use or soemthing. Other then that, i like how its a dark skin, but not all black (like most others)

I noticed that the close, min, max buttons, aren't original, they're supposed to be ontop of a white bg, so you can see the outline of the white a little bit, you'd have to change that to black to make it blend in with the black brushed bg.

Correct, I have spent a quite a few hours in Photoshop to make things fit in right with the dark theme.

I have been waiting for permission from Three Drives and KoL. I left them a permission request a while ago and have not heard back from them yet. If any one can get ahold of them for me I'll get this out ASAP.

Man, this one's so cool I gave up my own tries to modify an existing theme, cuz I wanted something similar, but it simply didn't existed till I noticed your mod.
And pleaaaaaaazzzzzz, keep the red or make it available as an option at least. That red is 100% my taste. I love it
