[question] Audio Quality

Posted this at Twisted CPU, too. Curious what you all think. Before getting a new external disk, in order to conserve HD space I was burning CDs full of mp3 albums, from 7 to 10 albums per disk usually, at minimum 192kb/sec bitrates. Now that I have the new HD, I'm re-copying those mp3 CDs back to the comp, and I'm just wondering.... are my ears deceiving me or have I lost some audio quality in the process? Thanks for any and all replies.

you will lose quality unless you rip them at like 320

but if you're just transfering the files you wont.

i am afraid that you most probably have...

You got the music off the net i assume? if that is the case, you already aqcuired it in a lossy format and thus with some loss of quality.

From burning it to the cd (even if you dont decompress the file to a wav) you most probably have lost some bits here and there...)

It shouldnt be much for what i think, but it could happen... specially if its encoded on a lossy format.

If im wrong, sorry hehehe
