Sorry for the bump but I thought this would be a better place to ask vs. starting a new thread and separating possibly valuable info from this plethora of info.
1) I need a good program for coding HTML and such, I have dreamweaver MX but my teacher wont let anyone use anything but a "text edit" program for hand written code. I have found Tag ($13) and BBEdit ($49 after student discount) and would like to know if anyone has first hand experience with them to say definitely one over the other.
2) I have heard a lot about ****tail and after reading this thread found TinkerTool. I installed ****tail just before reading this thread and didn't see a lot of useful things that I couldn't do without it via "Disk Utility" or "Terminal" (other than cleaning the system cache, that I don't know how to do). So my question is... is ****tail really all its hyped up to be?
Some things I didn't see listed ShapShooter and SideNote
I suggest getting subthaEdit instead of either tag or bbedit, its cheaper, and handles things much nicer
as for tinkertool, yeah just create some apple scripts that tell terminal to run certain commands, plus its better to learn terminal commands ;D
I lost the name of this software :
i love the newsreader - unison. its the best newsreader ive ever used
Great, thanks My brains is broken
BBEdit has given me good experiences so far! Granted, I actually need to purchase it sometime. Maybe in college.
SafariStand has some promise. I like the ability to save all my open tabs. I've wanted this for ages!
And the icons of the tabs open is awesome too.
SafariStand crashes Safari a lot.
The "stand" menubar add on is ugly.
right now, I am obessed with agenda....http://yenco.com/
SafariStand crashes Safari a lot. The "stand" menubar add on is ugly.
I haven't had it crash once yet.
And I don't use the menubar add-on.
It's still features I've wanted in Safari forever anyway.
Dictinoary.app, where would I be without you?
The mi text editor is completely free, very useful for coding, and makes me feel retro (I love the look of a Carbon interface).
i'm newly switched mac user and already have couple of favorite applications -
**for browser tried and loved Shiira - very fast
**for quick notes Sidenotes - convinient, is placed on either side of the screen and has auto-hide function
still have so many more to discover
as a video artist... i use Motion quite a lot, as well as some other toys... but also grid ( http://vidvox.com/ ), and possibly grid pro soon
is there some sort of alternative to iTunes? I really dislike it and I couldn't find a great skin for audion. are there any other mp3 players for OS X?
what, huhh a itunes hater who owns a mac? how can anyone hate itunes espically with all its great skins.
I've been a windows user forever and I've gotten so used to winamp. I've never liked anything about iTunes, especially when winamp did it so much better and less resource-intensive.
WinAmp is so bloated and unintuitive. To each his own.
if you believe winamp is bloated, I sincerely hope you think iTunes is too..
M$N / iChat
