wizard
People, read the friggin' thread. I have answered it like 3 time, including duckie which answered about the same. Delete the .manifest file in the programs directory. Link to comment

nightcrawler1089
If deleting the .manifest file didn't work, run the program in compatibility mode (anything other than XP). Post more later-nightcrawler1089 Link to comment

nightcrawler1089
OK...we're gonna get through this. Breathe in, Breathe out...Uninstall anything you may have installed. Then, redownload everything. Install Visual Basic 6 (or whatever it is) again, and then reinstall the address book. Keep the manifest file, but set compatibility for windows 2000. Try that. I got the same error noise and it was fixed if I kept the manifest but set compatibility.-nightcrawler1089 Link to comment
Irondoorknob
I too am having a problem. I can get address book to run, but the window is truncated. I cannot get the whole window to display. I am running Windows XP. I have follwed all instructions carefully. I have deleted everything, re-downloaded both VB and address book, reinstalled both, and deleted the manifest file. But I do not know where to change compatibility mode.Any advice?Cheers Link to comment

This shouldn't be the problem, but just a precaution. Link to comment
nightcrawler1089
Irondoorknob- The same things happens to me when I try to run Address Book: (it works, but) I get a truncated window. Well, actually, I've run it on two computers (both running it in compatibility mode), and I get a truncated window for one, but not the other. Any ideas, anybody?-nightcrawler1089 Link to comment
Irondoorknob
nightcrawler1089 - The same thing is happening to me. I am running it on my desktop and on my new laptop. The desktop version runs perfectly. The laptop version is truncated. I have now chnaged to Windows 200 compatibility mode, with no success. I am running an English US keyboard and program. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers. Link to comment
nightcrawler1089
Exact same situation here: works fine on desktop, but truncated on laptop. Wonder what's up with that? Specifically, is it the right side that is messed up? It just ends in white; there is no side. Is it the same with you?Thanks,nightcrawler1089 Link to comment
Irondoorknob
For me it is the right side and the bottom. Both are truncated. Does anyone have any ideas? Link to comment
Duckie
if one more person says the word truncated, I'm goin' postal. Link to comment
nightcrawler1089
Yeah. Right side and bottom truncated (Watch out for Duckie now. He's gone postal). I wonder what's up with that. We could PM or email Jib and see if he has any ideas.-nightcrawler1089P.S: Sorry Duckie, I couldn't resist. Link to comment
rooskee
First off... you are not going to get too much respect by pissing off a long time and respected member like Duckie.Second, a PM to jib would be useless, i don't think he comes here anymore Link to comment
nightcrawler1089
That's too bad that Jib no longer hangs out here. As for Duckie, I worship him. I know that Aqua skinning would be nothing without duckie. (Duckie- where'd you get your name from?) I was just kidding around. Rooskee- Have you done anything? Like, any apps or icons? Do you have a website? I'd like to check them out.Anyway... I guess I'll just give up on this address book. Neither Roots or this worked. Both display problems it seemed. I don't really need a separate address book- the one that came with Thunderbird is just fine (and it looks even better once you apply an Aqua skin- just got the beta version of what Proteo did; see http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=13387).Thanks!nightcrawler1089P.S: I hope I didn't really make anyone too mad over Duckie going postal. Please accept my apologies. Link to comment

Irondoorknob
Nightcrawler,I found the problem. Change your display settings under Appearance/Advanced from large DPI to normal DPI. I remembered that this problem had occurred before so I looked up an earelier thread. Jib suggested this and it worked for me. Here is the thread: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?s...pic=9273&st=180.Hope this works for you!Cheers,Irondoorknob Link to comment

nightcrawler1089
Yeah, it is a pretty nice app. I'm not sure I need an address book- this is one of those apps that you wouldn't use that often but just have to keep it because it's so darn cool!-nightcrawler1089P.S: Thanks, irondoorknob. Glad you found a fix. Link to comment
