AndrewYY 0
Someone asks this every week, it seems, and the answer is always no. Use Rocketdock or RK Launcher or something. Edited May 6, 2009 by AndrewYY Link to post

If you don't know how, pm me with the theme you're using, and I can shrink it down for you Link to post

btb42693 0
This is a known bug, and there are many other questions just like yours throughout the forum. For now, just like Andrew said, the developer has discontinued creating this program, and the only solution to getting around the Internet Explorer issue is to use another browser (i.e. Safari, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, AT&T's Browser, etc) (I prefer either Safari or Firefox). All the other browsers, as far as I know, work with XWD. Link to post

cnterr 0
In preference menu there are two options for icon bounce effect, but this setting works with externals docklet only. Is this a my problem or this feature is not implemented directly in this release? Many thanks! Link to post
Memophysic 0
Everytime I install the dock, it gives me a problem with internet explorer.. It closes my internet explorer windows, and wont let me open them anymore, I restarted my computer a few times, installed it and uninstalled it a few times too but I kept having the same problem.. I've been reading previous posts but never found anyone with the same problem I have w vista 32b home edition.. any suggestions? I think I've found a solution for you! In fact, that happened to me before. I thought Internet Explorer was the problem but no, it was XWD's fault :rolleyes. Try to go to C:\\Program Files\Internet Explorer\, right-click on iexplorer.exe, click on the compatibilty tab and check "Execute this program as the administrator" and finally click on ok. You sure need the admin rights Now, try opening internet explorer again. It should ask you the right to execute itself with the admin rights, click "Yes" and (I hope so) ta-dam! Internet Explorer opens! Hope this works for you! Link to post

logster 0
Hey guys. New here.I downloaded XWD and I think it's awesome. However, whenever I restart my computer or restart the dock, some of my custom icons get a screwed up, and things move around. Is there any way to save the dock's info?Moved to a more appropriate area, try using the search function too this problem has been mentioned a few times - mps69 Link to post

risemix 0
This software has been nothing but trouble for me.I've tried the suggestions in the FAQ and in this thread, but still:I cannot see labels.I cannot drag and drop items on the dock. There are no animations. In addition,Dragging a window toward the bottom dock causes my rig to slow down to levels I've never seen before. It has something to do with the reflections, but when I turn them down/off, I still have the problem. This is after closing all other programs and adjusting the settings as best I can.Overall, this software is quite buggy and "unrefined" at best. I understand that the author has chosen to suspend work on the project, which is a shame because there seems to be quite a bit of work that needs to be done before this is even usable compared to similar software (many of which are also free).Anyhow, it's a nice piece of eye candy and if nothing else the artwork and customization are really fantastic.EDIT: I want to apologize for this post, as I did manage to get the software working with a quick reboot and edit of a few registry entries. Thanks for the lovely software. Edited May 25, 2009 by risemix Link to post
btb42693 0
@risemix, What OS do you have? Much of your description sounds like common Windows 7 problems. Have you tried running and installing the program with administrative rights? That seems to clear a lot up with many people. One solution that helped me was to install the program in a different folder such as your documents folder. Try basic troubleshooting, i.e. turning off reflections (like you said you did) and change the opacity of the dock to 100%, no transparency. Keep turning off many features slowly and continue restarting the dock ad try to find the problem. A lot of eye candy that this application has can use a lot of resources, such as memory and CPU. Depending on your graphics card, it can sometimes run a little funny on old cards. On your next response, include your system details including processor speed, memory capacity, graphics memory, etc. So that we can figure out a solution better than what I've told u so far EDIT: After reading your update risemix, go ahead and forget my post Registry cleaning software does also help clear up some errors with this software also. Some good cleaners are: CCleaner by Pitiform, Glary Utilities by Glarysoft, Registry Mechanic by PC Tools, and Registry Booster by Uniblu, just some suggestions to software that are safe to use and work very well for me. The last two require paid subscriptions to work completely, so use the first two for free. They work just fine and work with all versions of Windows including Windows 7. Just google them to find them. Edited May 25, 2009 by btb42693 Link to post
risemix 0
I do in fact use Windows 7 and the software runs great with the latest RC. However, it should be noted that I did try the software on Vista and had the same problems. I made sure of that before reporting the issues. With that said, it would be wise to try to find someone who can update the software for a Windows 7 release, or this Dock will be obsolete in less than a year. That's assuming you guys still have the source etc. I'm incredibly happy with this. Best dock I've used, that's including the retail version of ObjectDock. By the way, Stardock is a really hard company to deal with. Link to post

risemix 0
Hi, guys. A quick follow-up on my old post:XWindows Dock will not function in Windows 7 if you have enabled background cycling. It will also cease to function correctly if you, at any point while it is running, change your background image. In order to get it to function after changing your background image, you must close the program, log off and back on (or reboot) and start it again. If you have background cycling enabled at all, XWD's animations, labels, and drag and drop functionality will cease functioning after a few seconds.I hope this helped somebody. Link to post
mija 0
Hi there - i can't help it but... for some reasons XWD slows down my system lots - (dual core [email protected] 2GHz) and always 25 to 30% CPU load / 50MB RAM what is no fun at all. What´s wrong - is it just me or...? Link to post
btb42693 0
@mija,It could be a number of things that could be slowing your system down. Try to turn off some eye candy such as window reflections, transparency, stack caching, etc. In the options menu of the XWD, there are some options you can turn off that can greatly reduce the amount of CPU usage or RAM usage the program is using. It is stated on some of the options that it will take a lot of RAM or CPU usage, so uncheck those and see if that helps. Also, take note that the higher quality you use for your images, the more CPU usage and RAM it will take when you are using the program. If the program is constantly running at 25-30% CPU usage constantly WITHOUT hovering your mouse over it, then that could be a different problem. However, with all the eye candy on, it should be normal to take that much CPU usage when hovering your mouse over the dock, because my processor is pretty close to yours, speed-wise. How much RAM do you have? I would suggest having at least 2 GB of RAM to use with your system if it is Vista or Windows 7, just so that your system runs nice and smooth with this program. mija 0
@btb42693Hmm thanks for the quick reply. I "played" some with my settings - but for some reasons there is no big effect on my CPUload. No reflection, transparency, stack caching... But it´s maybe all my png's - i have about 70 icons on my dock - 128x128 up to 512x512 some. I´m on 4GB or better 3GB RAM and "old school" XP SP3 *winks*here a pic of my task manager and XDW --> http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/5570/xwd.png ) Link to post
