I have question: how can I set the alarm for PM? I mean it's only 12 houre clock (even I turned it off) and no AM/PM choice.

Take a look at the screenshot, having the clock configured for showing 12 hour format does not affect the alarm configuration.

The problem is that I don't have any "PM" or "AM" . Doesn't matter if I have 12 H or not... And I have no idea if I set alarm on AM or PM hour ;) It maybe a not very nice suprise in for eg. 3 AM ...

It seems that for your screen configuration/dpi settings the DateTimePicket is a bit too short... let me fix that. Next update will have a longer DateTimePicker so it will accomodate for such configutations.

@Ghostwalker,

Now that I have tested the docklet again under XP I see what you mean. Let me find out what is going on.

Edit:

Both issues solved in latest Alpha release (v.2.0.4j)

I'll be moving the alpha release to the first post to facilitate it's download.

Tested the latest version (from the first post).

1. Changing between tabs seems kinda slow. Don't know how performance could be optimized to change quicker... Actually, I don't think it has sth to do with performance. If I click on an icon on the docklet, it changes the background, but then takes a few hundreds of seconds to change the complete screen. Could it be better to let the screen change in another order: first hide all the stuff from the first screen, before starting to show the things from the new screen. This way you would never see a start/stop button in front of the background from the clock tab. It doesn't really boost performance, but it leaves out the bad impression that something seems to be going wrong :P

1b. Same for scrolling through the alarms and alarm-clocks; maybe first build the new screen, so it shows in one quick update?

post-101469-1243166699.png

2. Would it be possible to change the right-click menu?

Just thinking that the Show-list can become very long, and that the alarms could become really important in this docklet (Well, personally, I'm probably never gonna use it though :P)

3. As Alarms and World Clocks already have their own tabs in the settings screen, wouldn't it be an idea to put the show things in a separate Clock tab? That way the general docklet preferences and the stuff about the clock-format are not alltogether... Don't know if this would be better myself, though ;)

4. Still can't set an alarm to 13:00... (As previous mentioned, no am/pm.)

5. I can scroll through all my alarms in the docklet, but it isn't that clear that actually something is changing. A scrollbar doesn't seem a good idea, but other ideas could be: a gradient behind all alarms, where the background behind the last alarm in the list would have a slightly other/darker/lighter color; the on/off button could have a slightly different color; the rows from the alarms could be lighter/darker, so that the even alarms would be slightly lighter from background than the uneven alarms (as in a table). I like the last option best, as that would mean that Ghostwalker could make easily one new lighter/darker image, instead of a gradient thingy, that could become not that clear with text in front of it. (What ya think, Ghostwalker?). Also, as it shows an uneven count from alarms, it would mean that with every click you see very clearly something changing.

5b. Possible improvements: I love the big on/off button in the alarms-tab, it's very easy to click on. But scrolling through the alarms is not that easy for someone with shaky hands, or so ;) Would it be possible to make this area a little bit bigger (same goes for the world clocks)?

5c. Is there a quick way to scroll fast to the end of my looong alarm list (ok, again, I will never have a long list, as I hate alarms, but I'm sure somebody out there will have such a list)? Double-clicking to go fast to the end of the list? Another button to "go to bottom" (but where would you place that, without losing too much space for the alarms?)?

6. When I'm adding Brussels as a World Clock, it actually shows me another time as my computer gives me :P So when I'm adding Brussels or Paris as a World Clock, the UTC Offset is set as 2, where it actually needs to be 1.

7. But the best of it all is that it works here too! Vista is really not a problem, it just works! (As you notice, all the above are just minor things, as the functionality is there, and it works well!)

One more question... probably stupid ;) I try to read all posts and I couldn't find any skins for the clock.. Are there any? The regular is ok but I'm not exactly happy with the background... There is a test background in folder but I don't know what is it for or haw to use it...

Still no AM/PM on Alarm settings. I set the alarm for 15.50 but it was just luck - I was hoping it was it - the clock was showing 3:50. But I was setting for 15:50 even tough it was showing 3:50 (don't know if you understand it, it is enough dificult to explain it in my own language and in english is more dificult)

The iTime theme is the furthest completed, I have at least two more skins in the making screenshots in previous post but as you are the lady in the house I will take a request from you. Do you have an idea for a skin in mind?

good question... have no idea :huh: , just don't like those green leaves ... maybe some black/silver? Or eventually black/blue, black/red? Something like this? Or else... just no green ;)

@ Lita: Oh I see you just want different wallpaper for the iTime theme.

@Smaky: Everything seems to work now except the buttons to cycle through alarms and world clocks. I have the hotspots set but clicking them does nothing. And of course in preferences the list,detail,icon and so on is not working.

And for the lady, just rename which ever background you would like to use to background_ck.png (right click and save as...)

2. Would it be possible to change the right-click menu?

Just thinking that the Show-list can become very long, and that the alarms could become really important in this docklet (Well, personally, I'm probably never gonna use it though tongue.gif)

I really don't think that is necessary I don't think you would be jumping to preferences all that much once you have it set. But I would like to see the system clock properties windows from the right click.

(What ya think, Ghostwalker?). Also, as it shows an uneven count from alarms, it would mean that with every click you see very clearly something changing.

I could but at the same time maybe Smaky could have that region(alarmor world clock region) dim when the button is clicked.

5b. Possible improvements: I love the big on/off button in the alarms-tab, it's very easy to click on. But scrolling through the alarms is not that easy for someone with shaky hands, or so wink.gif Would it be possible to make this area a little bit bigger (same goes for the world clocks)?

I can make bigger buttons for that, as I said in a previous post this skin is not complete I created some things just for the sake of being quick as to allow Smaky a skin to test with.

Well following the last few posts...

@Ghostwalker,

I have introduced a few skin changes (sorry more work for Ghostwalker ;) )

+ I have merged the digits on a single image for each set: bigdigits.png, smalldigits.png & tinydigits.png

+ I have merged the background in a single image: background.png

Having them consolidated on single images seems to have helped my code to be a little bit compact and easier to read, I'm not sure if this will go for the rest of the images in the skin.

+ I tend to agree that the next/previous buttons are a bit small, personally I like as they are, but for shaky hands, they should be a pain.

+ On the alarm/world clock modes changing... It would be not much trouble to add an even/odd highlight to make it easier to visualize that the scroll is being done.

@MetalArend & Lita,

+ Could you post a screenshot of the Alarms Settings dialog... I enlarged the DateTime picker, but on my system it shows fine.

@MetalArend,

+ On the UTC stuff, unfortunately it seems that wheater.com does not take into account daylight saving for the UTC offset. I still have not found a public Web Service which will let me consult that information. I'm still looking for one. For the time being, I would suggest you to check http://www.timeanddate.com/ and adjust the UTC manually while configurying the world clock.

+ On the right click menu, I have not created a multi-level menu from C++ before, so I'll have to research on that.

+ I think there are very few "General" & "Show/Hide" options that's why I decided to merge them on a single tab... It seems to me that having too many tabs would make the configuration more cumbersome.

Edit: Another small updates.

+ Looking at the slowliness while changing clock modes I found a few bugs there. I have updated the docvklet so switching between modes should feel way better. v.0.2.0.4l

+ Added an even/odd highlight to the alarms & world clocks modes to facilitate scrolling. This change requires another skin modification, now the al_highlight.png & wc_highlight.png includes two images each, the upper one for even elements & the lower down for odd ones. Ghostwalker, I did a quick modification to your skin images just to show the change.

BTW: I really appreciate all your efforts on creating a great skin for the docklet. I could never ever have created such great images. The docklet would not be what it is without them. Thanks man!

Thank you all for your feedback.

Developers they are such a pain :rolleyes:

@Lita: Here are updated backgrounds for you (easy fix)

Download Blue and Gray

@Smaky: For now I'm going to hold off on all other skins until you are sure of the format you wish to use and what works best. Cycling throught the alarms and world clock still does not work on xp. I have set up 4 alarms and 4 world clocks but can only view 3.

@MetalArend: will this work for you...

@Lita,

This is odd, I have tested it on Windows XP SP3 (32 Bits), Windows Vista (32 Bits) & Windows 7 (64 bits)... the only thing that came to my attention is that apparently you are skinning your system. I am using Windowsblinds on my Vista machine and have not percieved any problem but I can not tell on Windows XP. Could you try to disable your skin momentarily just to double check if the AM/PM stuff shows?

Is anybody else experimenting this problem? If so, could you post your system settings so I can try to reproduce it?

Mhmm... I don't know, at least on my XP VM is working just fine... as MetalArend said, it's just a bit frustrating sometimes when the Next/Previous hotspots are too narrow... could you post your iTime.ini so I can test with it?

This is a small capture I made from my XP machine (it's saturday's version) but I have found no problems with the docklet since then on XP.

Sorry... I'll have to reboot my machine to upload the video... check again in a few minutes

Look at the preview video at: http://www.feterspace.com.mx/downloads/DCD...ClockXPSP3.html

did it ... nothing changed...

And I'm also using Windowsblinds ...

Actually I's not so important to me 'couse I don't think I'll be using Alarm so often. But the problem exists...

What version os Windows/SP are you using... additionally how are your regional settings configured? cause I would like to nail that bug!

Video looks good but there are a couple of things I noticed. In preferences alarm icons are displayed with black around them not transparent and in the world clock preferences icons are the same and the weather icon does not display when you add a clock. Here is my ini

@Lita: What font are you using with the docklet?

OK here is an updated skin with some minor changes I had been working on(old format) changed next and prev buttons for the alarms and world clock, changed the font used in the graphics(much cleaner looking) and Lita I have included the two extra backgrounds for you in the skins folder.

Lucida Handwriting

Ghostwalker the skin is great (thanks for my favorite backgrounds :D ) but I want to show how the "Next" button appears on my docklet:

post-101698-1243368650.png post-101698-1243368669.png

And after this update I have this with Alarm:

Lucida Handwriting - I'm using it as a system font - chnged by Windowblinds. What is regular font for vista? To be honest - have no idea, never was interested...

As for ini file - I used the whole pckage...

I have question:

post-101698-1243370442.png

as you can see, under the hour I have date info like day of the week, month and year... Is it possible that it wolud be day of the week, mont and date not year? I mean the exact date is more important than a year - year doesn't change evry day ;)
