zaimek 0
There is a Windows PowerToy which does sth similar. It looks worse though and takes up some resources. Link to post
ultimatsz 0
i know about that so any ideas to obtain the vista version? Link to post
Godmic 0
To get the vista version, you really just have to get vista as xp doesn't use vista's dwm. You can find some knockoffs that are not too efficient, though. Link to post
SirSmiley 0
To get the vista version, you really just have to get vista as xp doesn't use vista's dwm. How's that answer the question? He wants Vista Alt+Tab on XP.You can find some knockoffs that are not too efficient, though.Care to share what these apps are?Efficiency is relative. Since most people don't look beyond Task Manager to find out how much load Alt-tab actually is. Also, most replacements do a lot more than Alt-tab alone does. Link to post

Efficiency is relative. Since most people don't look beyond Task Manager to find out how much load Alt-tab actually is. Also, most replacements do a lot more than Alt-tab alone does. There is the previously mention Windows Powertoy. There is TaskSwitchXP?.There is AltSwitch.I have not tested the latter two and prefer the default. SirSmiley 0
I missed that you weren't answering the original questions that plus no smokes=grumpy mod. Anyways, sorry. Link to post
ultimatsz 0
i know about taskswitch... it is about the same as windows powertoy.. the other one... still is about the same...is it possible to have someone emulate the alt-tab of vista in xp? Link to post
AirForceOnes 0
my question is why do u want xp to look like vista. the UI is terrible imo Link to post
SirSmiley 0
I think he just wants screenshots instead of Icons? This maybe could be accomplished with MacSwitch and an AutoIt script using the Auto3Lib to create a thumbnail of each program as the icon. Link to post
ultimatsz 0
i just want the alt-tab thing on vista.. i never say i want my xp to look like vista..apparently macswitch and pantherswitcher have problems catching windows media player skin and itunes in mini mod... as in i cannot find them when alt-tab with these.nevermind... Link to post
virtualjatin 0
I dont think there is any such thing available. i hav also searched a lot for it. And about windows POWER TOYS, dont use them, its just not worth. I think something should be there. As there is sidebar for XP, the same as we have in Vista. Link to post
Sranshaft 0
I've actually been tinkering with something that does something like this. I'll make sure to let you know how progress is coming along.Quick question: Is everyone looking for a 1 to 1 clone of Alt-Tab for Windows or a clone for that found on Mac? Or both? Keep in mind this would be developed for XP primarily therefore Live Previews would be something I wouldn't be considering in the near future. Link to post
alabanco 0
if you ask me - I would like to see alt tab close to Mac while MacSearch by Landvermesser is really unstable and slow. Link to post
DJMusic 0
There are a few, actually.Shock Aero: http://www.docs.kr/product_22.phpTopdesk, of course: http://www.otakusoftware.comBut the one I prefer most (and use;)) is WinFlip. The official site is currently down, but there is a mirror: http://winflip.stylekings.de/Hope that answers your question:) Link to post
alabanco 0
DJMusicThanks, although I don't really like Flip 3D way of switching windows. Moreover WinFlip conflicts a bit with Styler. Some part of Styler toolbar blinks when you are in Flip3D mode. Link to post
Ojalord 0
And as has been mentioned, it's not Flip3d that is being requested for here...@Sranshaft, what about a one-to-one mac style look or something like the alt-tab switcher that Beryl comes with on linux (a macish one but with live previews and stuff, I think) featured here, http://www.beryl-project.org/features.php Link to post
alabanco 0
OjalordThat's right. it's not Flip 3D which has been mentioned. Enhanced Switcher in Beryl is smth close to what was asked. By the way that bluring background can be easily made for XP. I'll give you an example. When you upload your pictures with Picasa you can see the rest of the screen blurred. Link to post

At the moment it darkens the screen background behind the thumbnails but I don't see why I couldn't add in a blur effect as well. As for live previews, it'll essentially be set to a timer to take thumbnails of the windows using PrintWindow. I really don't think I'll be able to get Vista-like live previewing... Link to post
SirSmiley 0
Sranshaft, sounds good. IMO live previewing isn't a good idea. Wonder what the load is with it in Vista? Link to post
