The reason the big German manufacturers have the 155 limiter is not due to any of that. The real reason is that many years ago, the German government was thinking of imposing limits that would seriously restrict cars built there. in terms of emissions, top speed, and other factors. The German auto manufacturers got together and decided that they would instead place a blanket 155 MPH limiter on their cars, thereby making the government drop the proposed law. It's not a warranty issue, because other manufacturers don't impose such limiters.

THANKYOU! finally someone who agrees with me, it was in fact top gear where i learned of it, before i thought they were just being spoilsports!

The thing is, if you have a racing license you can go to the manufacturers to have the limiter removed, and so therefore underengineering them is pointless. It would have made sense to limit cars like the Veyron and Koenigsegg because they wouldn't be able to take higher speeds, but 155mph can't be that taxing on cars wheels, hell even volvo make 180mph vehicles.

Finally, a point from wikipedia :)

Get rid of the GReddy logo if possible and get a Honda emblem back into the hood and it'll look good. :P

Gotta keep the riceing tasteful ;)

EDIT: Best rice car I've ever seen. Honda Prelude in Houston. Not seen, what appear to be Skyline R34 headlamps and a carbon fiber hood, all perfectly fitted and tasteful.

What I'm riding until January or a few months later:

4lzhaqe.jpg

2006 Eastern Paydirt, Profile Sealed American BB Crank, some old Haro wheels I got from a friend for free (Best rims ever, still haven't bent on me.), 39T sprocket and everything else is pretty much stock that came with the bike.

After I get my license (Mid winter), I'll be rocking this kind of car (Not the one I'm getting) :

I want that stance on my Jetta, just different wheels, black housing head lights, early Vento grill, some kind decent exhaust, a few motor mods and exterior mods. I'm looking to Borbet Rims or BBS rims so far, but I gotta that cash flow goin.

If you want to buy a Lotus Exige, take a fine strong look at a Honda S2000 instead. MUCH cheaper, especially used.

240 hp stock on a 4-banger.

EDIT: The Lotus Exige only gets 190 hp, not 220. He doesn't "have" the S model.

Roommate has an American version of this, same color:

Nice poor mans Lotus.

There's two of them in the parking lot today here at work.

Roughly $60k US

You're paying for show... not go.

220 horsepower... please... my Eclipse was pushing 200 with a few simple mods.

And that's not "his" car.

Plates give it away. ;)

is it safe to assume you are an American? Just you don't seem familiar with lotus's reputation here in the UK. Also, Americans like the big block motors that power the 1 tonne masterpieces there :).

Lotus is a marque well known for its very light cars and lack of good stuff (until very recently).

If you bought a lotus, most likely you're paying for go (lightweight wheels, engine and no electric windows) rather then the show...just check out the first paragraph here...

i'll admit, you won't be pulling any high speeds but in Europe you don't get too many chances, our roads are either not straight, or too crowded to speed on. And that's not his car :P
