That can do this. It's called Lightbox JS. You have to click on the images in the link to see what it does.

Is it possible to do this with a FF extention? Maybe just for thumbnails or for every link to a larger image. I for one think this would be a really useful extention and save me from haveing to close so many tabs. It sure would be nice.
