pip22
After spending many weeks 'googling' for and installing several other transformation packs, all of which were buggy or unsatisfactory in some way, I finally came across FlyakiteOSX. It's just brilliant, Chris. The installer is exemplary, and the makeover runs totally stable on my PC. Now I can stop trying to hunt down a half-decent Windows customizing pack. This one I'll be keeping. Well done! Link to comment

kinsemon
don't be so violent, vi0lent666. i guess you missed the installation notes during setup:INSTALLATION NOTES: (Feb. 25, 2006)This installer is designed to work on the following operating systems and languages:-Windows XP (Home, Pro, RTM, SP1, SP2, Corporate)-Windows 2003 (Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter, Web, RTM, SP1)-Windows Media Center Edition (2003, 2004, 2005)-Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-All Language Versions-Does NOT work with 64 bit versions of Windows!does not say anything about SP3 (and Vista for that matter). Chris Kite however posted on his site (30 Dec 2007) that he is doing something about Leopard and Vista...you just have to be patient. if you really want to try out FAK, you can revert back to SP2. solosou
After having installed and uninstalled FaK 3.5 many times during the past 2 weeks, I came to a conclusion that FaK 3.5 can actually work seamlessly with XP SP3. I have also tried installing FaK 3.5 before updating to SP3 but it didn't work. Many things were messed up after one reboot, e.g. the visual styles, screen saver and most of the changed icons. All I had to do was to update the SP3 right after completing the installation of a fresh Windows and then put the FaK 3.5 in later. It's working now (for me though). Oh, and the new SP3 is stable enough I can feel the difference. Things are running more smoothly than before the SP3. Link to comment
Brewstermax
FlyakiteOSX is just about the worst piece of crapware/bloatware/spyware/adware ever made.I installed it and had to reinstall the OS, because of this software, and it wouldn't uninstall completely. If you haven't installed this yet and you're reading this, DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE Link to comment

matonga
FlyakiteOSX is just about the worst piece of crapware/bloatware/spyware/adware ever made.I installed it and had to reinstall the OS, because of this software, and it wouldn't uninstall completely. If you haven't installed this yet and you're reading this, DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE I just wanted to post my own opinion about FlyakiteOSX: I can say I'm mostly a happy user of Flyakite. I cannot agree about it being spyware/adware, as I have never had problems by that side with Flyakite. It is not crapware at least to me, though nowadays I prefer to mod Windows by myself (as I did now with my notebook), but for the beginner FlyakiteOSX is a very good option because it frees you from having to learn lots of complicated stuff. Indeed, I wish I knew how to write my own Flyakite to do a Leopard version. But also it has it's drawbacks: yes, I also consider it bloatware, about one or two months later I uninstalled a fair amount of software installed by Flyakite as I was not using them or found better alternatives. Let's remind Flyakite is quite old by now, and other programs have since appeared which are better alternatives to some of the programs which come with Flyakite. So, in short, my viewpoint is: If you're an advanced user, learn about UXTheme, visual styles, icon patching, docks, docklets, AveDesk, etc... and mod your windows install by hand. If you're a beginner and have a powerful computer, install Flyakite. You'll save a lot of time and can learn to mod (and uninstall pertaining parts of Flyakite as you mod) later (this is what I did). If you're a beginner and have a powerless computer, you're better not modding your computer at all BTW, before installing Flyakite do a restoration point (Startup > Programs > Accesories > System tools > Restore system) (my Windows is Spanish, please forgive and correct any mistranslation in step before). I've never completely uninstalled Flyakite (I uninstalled parts, not the whole) so can't tell if it uninstalls ok. Also take a look at other alternatives. There is something called Bricko Packs, though I never found one for Leopard. Link to comment
