deviljin 0
Is there a widget for Konfabulator that can provide the same functionality of Avedesk when it comes to putting big, beautiful Macish shortcuts on the desktop? If not, is there anybody willing to create one?thanks, deviljin Link to post

If not, is there anybody willing to create one?thanks, deviljinI have actually already made a Mac Drive widget that looks just like the Mac Drive on an OSX desktop already, I could share it when it gets a bit more polish on it.... but to answer your question, yes, I am willing and nearly ready with one... robtheman 0
@citysuit: Sounds promising: would you be able to add shortcuts also, or is it only for drives? Link to post
deviljin 0
@citysuitYea this going to be great! If it doesn't, please allow it to add shortcuts!! Link to post
citysuit 0
Hi, for now, its just going to be drives... when that is stabilized and working, it will certainly grow to handle shortcuts, or maybe develop into a separate shortcuts only widget (keep the drives and shortcuts widgets as separate entities), but it's definitely already in my mind to implement shortcuts...Actually just flown back to the UK(currently working in Asia) to pick up my old iBook to replicate the behaviour as best I can....its difficult remembering the details of the functionality of the MacOSX drive icon from memory, but the drive is already up and running and I want to tweak up the label side of it before releasing it. Not sure I can get the popup menu to look like OSX as Konfabulator handles menus at the moment, but at least it looks good on the desktop in normal use so far... Link to post
Terc 0
Wow, this sounds great, I'm really looking forward to your release Link to post
Future Deprived 0
That's a very good idea indeed. Another good thing you can add to it to have the Mac look is when you click on it it shows the way a mac does, like how Flyakite's desktop-like site shows that for the links at the right side. Gee, I hope I explained that well and not make it sound confusing... Link to post
citysuit 0
@FutureDrive, not sure what you are driving at (no pun intended) with your description. Been to look at the flyakite site, and still don't understand...Just to make things a little clearer with what I'm doing (for now), the drive currently shows up on the desktop as the usual Mac OSX drive. You can do a "get info" on it, and a standard Mac info box appears, and you can change the image of the drive by dragging any graphic file into the little icon area(same as you can paste into the image well on the real Mac, works real good right now)Double clicking the drive simply opens the bog standard windows explorer window for that drive, it's not meant as a replacement Finder/Explorer..... yet. (Now wouldn't that be sweet if we could pull that off?!)Reason its not out for release is that I'm simply having trouble pulling off some drive information for the get info window using Konfabulator... I need to know what format the drive is using so I can display it in the window.... Delving deeper into RunCommand from inside Konfabulator to try and retrive the info... tedious but ultimately worth it....One last thing, this is based on the original OSX 10.1 drive for now, I had to actually fly back home to pick up my old iBook to compare notes and I dont have Tiger system or anything installed yet. This actually makes sense for now as it gves me a reduced feature set to emulate and I want to see how far I can push Konfabulator before trying for a bigger project. If this goes well, I'll certainly go out and buy a copy of Tiger and emulate that.... this kind of work gets somewhat addictive... and Konfabulator is a great little environment to work in...TonyMo (aka citysuit)@FutureDrive, Been back to site, and think I understand what you want.... better for now to stick with what we have... if this works, I will upgrade to Tiger and then after that into what you want... I am with you in spirit, just not in talent or time resources yet.... lol Link to post
