Those who don't have it working are not doing something as they should. Those were not feautre request as much as bugfixes (images don't open, labels are wrong) and annoyance resolving issues. It's noot like I'm hailing anything not necessary (such as but not limited to skin support)

Saladin: I am not directing this towards you. The only reason I said anything is that there has (yet...but I know it will come soon) been a clear way to fix things. I've read through this whole thread (up until this morning anyway) and still was a little unsure what exactly to do to get search to work. Thats the reason I said anything.

No harm done

Mpampoulis: thanks for the image! I will try that when I get home. I've done most of that, for some reason it just did not work. I must have messed up something small...

well, as for the floating above the taskbar, I have a widget that runs spotlight, but it keeps disappearing behind the taskbar (since its set to show above all other windows cause I like it that way) :P

For myself I solved it by making it overlap slightly... looks too bad for a release but still works good enough for me ;)

... think the easiest thing to do would be a systray icon

i don't want to do a systray icon because it's just not good enough, I already have the floating button working, it makes it look exactly like in osx along with the button being highlited like any other menu. I just need to add the entries to the prefs dialog to enable the user to customize it. I am tired of relying on windows, and using the systray is another way of bowing to microsoft. Trust me, the everybody is going to love the floating button

as far as the new features go:

1. The floating button thing is in place, I just need to add config settings to the prefs dialog

The floating button sits on top of all windows, even if your taskbar or objectbar is set always on top. The user will be able set custom images for the regular and pressed states. When the button is pressed, it changes to the pressed state, and remains that way until the menu is closed

2. As far as the program closing when you click on something else, it does that because it was initially designed to act like a menu, the user will be able to enable/disable this option as well as make the menu regular or always on top

3. The issue with not being able to open certain files, this is caused by some hole in windows. When you get that error message when trying to open an image, that's command is actually taken directly from the windows registry. For some reason windows doesn't like my program using that so I will be adding a setting that will allow the user to independantly set up which programs open which types of files.

Now I need some further assistance from our fellow mac users. I need to know the following things:

1. If you do a search and there are no results, what happens?

2. if you do a search and it produces results, then you do another search with the results displayed, does the menu roll back up during the search or just change how it is?

3. If there are any VB6 programmers here, I would like to be able to add the hotkey functionality like the original "Command + Space", this is one of the areas of VB that I am not experienced with.

The show all feature is going to take a long time, this is a lot more involved that the first part of the program, I will probably put in a temporary little browser that will pull up the google desktop search results page when you click show all, just so you can have some functionality

what about viewing full-screen video? will it float above that? i know the searchlight desklet for avedesk does float above full-screen video which is kind of a bummer...

you know what, I the floating button thing is floating above everything which is kind of a pain. What if the button wasn't always on top and you just changed the image on your objectbar to a transparent image, giving room to fit the button in place

I am going to experiment around with this on my system

p.s. sorry there havent been any updates in the last couple of days, i've been really sick lately.

Yes Tom the button above everything is big pain.

I use my pc as tv.So when i watch a film or tv in full screen isn't the best thing to have a spotlight in the corner :D (exempt if you make it search for tv programms too :P ).

the other way is better for me (I use OB).But what happen with them that doesn't use Ob but the taskbar?

If you can make it selectable will be the best for all.You know better.

P.S. I hope now you are ok.don't press youself.take care. :D
