[release] Nexplorer 1.87 Beta

Recommended Posts

Hello aqua-soft citizen,

Here is version 1.87 beta.

I actually made this before I decided to take a break so I will take a break after this version. There will be no update for at least a couple of months unless there is a serious flaw in this version.

Uninstall the old version first (back up nexplorer.ini if you want to keep the old shortcut settings) and delete any unnecessary registry keys related to nexplorer(Uninstallation should do it but in case there is something wrong)

After installation, open nexplorer.ini in the text editor and input the number of shortcuts (including the splitter) in the [main] section and delete the default shortcuts and copy-paste your old shortcuts from backed-up nexplorer.ini.

I didn't fix many bugs from the previous version and there is no major updates but I removed dependency on Windows xp only APIs so it should work on W2K and W2003 server. But I am not sure cause I didn't have a chance to test it on other OSes than xp.

I also removed double buffering of listview display so the browser will flicker a lot when the contents change. If it's intolerable, I will release an XP only double buffer version separately.

When you report a bug, please follow the form:

1. OS / Environment:

2. Symptom (Make it clear and simple):

3. Type : Look, Speed, Crash, Function, etc.....

4. Frequency : Always, Once in a while or when a certain pre-condition exists

5. Screenshot if available:

Thank you

Thats odd ... I have no "uninstaller" nore does Nexplorer show up in "Add/Remove Programs".

Where in the registry would I need to delete the registry keys?

This is because the skin is for the older version and some files needed for the collapsed state are missing. Just wait until the skinner updates the skin or you can fix it yourself referring to the default panther skin I provided.

You have to create "bottom_collapsed.png", "leftmiddle_collapsed.png", "rightmiddle_collapsed.png", "leftbottom_collapsed.png", "rightbottom_collapsed.png" and add the following 3 keys in the skin.ini

[Outer Frame]

Bottom real width =

Left middle real width =

Right middle real width =

Hi vneumann

Let me report the 1.87b behavior on Win2K.

1. OS / Environment:

Windows2000 SP4 on IBM Thinkpad.

2. Symptom (Make it clear and simple):

1.87b cannot be launched due to error.

Error dialog is shown.

4. Frequency : Always, Once in a while or when a certain pre-condition exists

Always.

5. Screenshot if available:

Screenshot is Japanese, so let me translate error.

Dialog says

"Procedure entry point SHParseDisplayName cannot be found in SHELL32.dll".

Hope this will be fixed in next release.

Thanks,

(Y) Yeah it's really beautiful, thanks a lot (Y)

My question is : in the main window, icons are often very close to the upper side, they sometimes seem to touch it, which is not very "clean" visually speaking, while everything else looks perfect.

Is there a way to get the first row of icons lower?

( on XP )

One more information.

I checked Nexplorer.exe file version and found out that version is 1.8.6.5 somehow.

But installer says version is 1.87b.

Is this something to do with Win2K error??

QuestioN: IS there a point to switch to this new beta if i have NExplorer 1.86 installed?

I mean, are there new features / benefits / upgrades in this one? cuz i'm kind of confused as to how this version is different from the last.

(asides from the WIN2k thing, since that is useless TO ME, cuz i'm on XP)

Thanks :D

I checked my EXE and found that it states the same thing. I don't think its that big of a deal. Probably just something that got overlooked during the update.
