[beta-release] Mailcheck V1.0

Recommended Posts

This is really a personal application but I figured someone might use it. What it does it checks how many new e-mails you have recieved and allows you to see it with a very minimalistic window that floats on your desktop.

It is not finished but will be by this weekend. :D Please post your screenshots, ideas, bugs, comments. (As always ;)) And tell me what I should do to enhance it. I hope that it can help someone out.

For those confused of how to configure the application, just right-click the window that opens and there are all the available options.

@Duckie: Merlin is coming along well, I wanted to develop like 3 or 4 channels before I released it again and I wanted to fix all the previous bugs. But if you want I can release another with the weather script if you want. Just tell me and I'll finish it up tonight and it should be ready by saturday.

@Andreas: Yeah, that is really wierd. I was going to fix that last night but got really tired. Expect a fix today or tomorrow. Also, skinning is planned on the agenda of things to do. I just wanted to get a user reaction before I put a whole lot of work into this application. But yes I should be able to support skinning very soon.

Known Bugs:

-If you let the application run for a while you might get an error message box with the following messafe "ERR:"

-The windows startbar may dissapear when the application is in focus

-The "Open Outlook" option does not function

Please report all other errors.

P.S. I am off of school for the next month, so expect some serious progress on Merlin!!! (Plus all my other apps like fontBook and mailCheck)

@Jack_Surfer: Jack, what e-mail service do you use? My application will not work with hotmail or other web-only e-mail clients. You must have a POP3 (IMAP will work I think) e-mail account. For example, I use .Mac e-mail, so my mail server (or POP3 server) would be mail.mac.com. The name changes with every e-mail service, like I also have a Road Runner account and the server is pop-server.houston.rr.com, so it really all depends.

Tell me what service you use and I might be able to help ya out on filling in the info necessary.

Hope this helps. :D
