Hi I found a Yahoo widget which can put the monitor into standby. http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=41491 As for turning off the screen, I think an app can be coded to turn it off, but not turn it back on again, as this would only work if it's on standby, if you know what I mean. The things I'll mainly be modelling would be buildings, mechanical objects. So... I was just wondering if anyone could offer recommendations of any of the three packages, Maya, Lightwave and 3D Studio Max and their advantages/disadvantages/ease of use/learning curve....things like that really. Thanks.
