Is it possible to launch Y'z Shadow with no tray icon placed on the taskbar?

I don't think so, but the YZShadow included in the TD Panther 4.0 theme has a hacked .exe so that it has a more Macish tray icon.

If you are using WindowsXP, just hide the icon.

Any way to get a hold of that icon without the TD Panther theme?

yes, there is no option in yzshadow to hide it. but, like oc-athlonxp said, if you're on xp, just hide it. if you're not on xp, download a program like
all to tray.
