Just wondering if anyone had considere IkonBoard. I know a few people who use it (although most haven't been bothered to update recently) and they say it's pretty good, although I only have knowledge of UBB which is a complete ass to use, and too god damned expensive  (Please excuse me if that offended you).

@Timan: In customizing IPB, how exactly do you add your own custom badges?

The way I found is you set up a new title in Members/Ranks and put a minimum amount of posts a user needs to have to automattically get the badge. But, I look on a few other forums, including this one, and see that people with custom badges have a few posts. Now what I'd like to know is, what if someone else reaches the same amount of posts as a person with a custom badge? Will they also get the badge?

Don't know if thay makes any sense, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ikonboard is nasty. Just... nasty. IPB is nicest from my localhost-only experience.

I used to know some people who used Ikonboard, a couple of years ago... It was ok for its time, but it's low on features now compared to the current generation of boards, and like most cgi-based boards, it seems really slow compared to php based systems like ipb, openbb, phpbb and vb. I still stick by ipb for now, unless someone else releases somehting that manages to surpass it /shrug

Cheers,

I wouldn't know about the cgi version. I just tested out myIkonboard (It's low on features but that's probably because I'm testing the free version). They are currently working on converting IkonBoard to PHP as far as I know but there hasn't been any news on myikonboard since October apparently.

neway, enough of that. I'd say go with IPB, unless you want to self program one in PHP (not as hard as it may seem).
