"recuva"...

thats assuming that you actually created a new partition when you install vista again...
also if you maybe deleted a file after throwing it to the trash then emptying it...the only way of you recovering that file is if you had a backup under the backup partition or in your temp. folder.
but there is no way of ever recovering the data after re-installing and maybe formatting your drive...its just false advertisement...I just recommend

using Microsoft new : anti-virus software called "Microsoft Security Essentials" which is actually great updated everyday. with real time protection.assuming you have a genuine copy of windows. and its free

maybe scanning your system for Spyware, adware use "Malware-Bytes"...
highly recommend other antivirus' which are free software like Avast(free version) Avg(free)

not [norton or trend-micro] which actually clog up your drive and make you OS seem slower.

recommend you to scan regularly and play it safe man...if you know your downloading a bunch of stuff from sharing-sites.torrents or what ever play it safe man learn to know how to fix your things/mistakes in real-time.:)

Once you reload windows all that data is lost (or atleast it should be.)
Unless of course you never actually reformated the hard drive.

Always create back up of your data as a system can easy infected from the attack of virus.Never save data in the C drive as it is the first drive which get format as windows become corrupted

It is necessary to clean all data from virus by using anti-virus software. There are many antivirus softwares are available which can clean data and also recover this data from its old data.

1. Access My Computer through the "Start" menu and click on "Properties."
2. Choose the tab labeled "Performance" and then select "File System."
3. Click on "Troubleshooting" and then choose "Disable System Restore." This is necessary prior to attempting a file repair so the computer doesn't call up an earlier version of the file that also has a virus infection in it.
4. Open your anti-virus software and select "Update" to retrieve the most recent virus definitions and information. This will benefit you when trying to delete or repair virus-infected files.
5. Scan your entire system using your anti-virus software. It will show a list of infected files at the end of the scan.
6. Right-click on each file you want to repair. Choose "Repair" from the context menu. The anti-virus software will delete the virus and restore the original file if it is able to do so...
