As we've come to expect, this year's event is being covered by Engadget.

There has been much speculation as to what Apple will announce at this event. From the probable - refreshed iPod Touch - to the the less likely - rumored Apple Tablet.

Visit Engaget's website to follow the coverage. Feel free to discuss below. And if you wish to verify any announcements and post them here, I'll update this first post to reflect the news.

What's been revealed thus far:

  • Steve Jobs is hosting this event. - mps69
  • Itunes 9 / App management / music, photography, liner notes, essays with iTunes LP
  • iPhone & iPod Touch OS 3.1 update.
  • iPhone & iPod Touch Gaming.
  • new iPod nano with built in video camera (H.264 VGA video, 640 x 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per sec with AAC audio) / Mic & Speaker / 2.2-inch display
  • the iPod shuffle and iPod Classsic are staying in their lineup.
  • the iPod Touch didn't get much love as far as I can tell. (aside from the lower pricing)
  • Apple website update is now live. Updated products online.
  • iTunes 9 with better integration with Windows 7 GUI, including finally, an aero shadow. - lid

I had to post to say iTunes 9 in Windows 7 seems to have good integration with the taskbar, and finally an aero shadow. GUI changes means the unfocused window will take a little getting used to but otherwise I only hope there have been some performance improvements under the surface otherwise looking good.

So the iPod Nano will get a camera but the Touch won't? What fuckery is this? Way to go, Apple. Way to fucking go.

so long as the device that doesn't have wifi gets the camera and the one that does is deprived of such ...iPhone users can be proud of the exclusivity of their devices capabilities.
