Minimize/background Problem

Alright,

I'm new to this whole dock thingie...

When I minimize windows, they conveniently shrink into my dock....

But... when I open another program or maximize a window - leaving other programs or windows in the background, they are not minimized for can I access them without minimizing my newly enlarged window or re-activating the default windows taskbar.

Any options? Any way to make any and all programs that open appear in the dock?

Actually, just found the answer to this with a task manager docklet.
