Big news about the XWDock website
Thire is a my little baby :D
Hope you like it, if you have a questions or a suggestions — ask and tell it!
Now it is only JPEG, but in a few days it will be a fully strict and valid HTML/CSS 2.0 (hope it will be soon)
If anybody wants to slise PSD faster than me — you're welcome! Shure, full credits and glory at the footer of the page :D

So. I'll say few words about desing:
0. Sometimes I have used russian text-blocks instead of Lorem Ipsum because LoremIpsum is sucks.
1. Web-page will be fit 100% of screen on the 1024x768. And have maximum width on the biggest resolution.
2. Hand-cursor-pointer mean that I want to show hover state of some page-elements (img, link, div or something else).
3. Features, Settings, System Req blocks must be implemented as dynamic tabs (using JS).
4. Fine and awesome free font using for headers (Aller Sans, link to download) must be impemented as sIFR (i hope).
5. All big page-blocks (as About, XSkinMaker etc) I have put on a Homepage. Honestly, there are not real thing. I just want to show all page blocks. I think that will be better to separate Skin and Docklet pages from main content.
6. And the last thing. Skin gallery. This was a most difficult for me. So I propose several solutions to this problem.
× grid with 2 columns (first 2 lines)
× wide rows with a different design (with categories and tags, with ratings, with layer, that shows skin info and DL link)
Thus we will have 2 pages and a lot of satisfaction from the work done! :D
Thanks for reading ;)

Haha... sorry, I almost forgot to link to an image.
There it is! (JPEG, 1*280 x 4*000 px, 24 bit, 572 KB)

Subscribe to No Doclket needed for Shutdown & Co ;)

Are many little apps who did that job very well. Personally I'm using iShut.Skinable all stuff.

Deavy: Wow...That shot from XWD website looks Pro :D Nice that Skin categories. Good Work man!

Very nice! Can't wait to see it in action :) I have a question: how will the list of skins be maintained? Will there be a way to upload and or update skins by the creators them self?
EDIT: I like the wide rows for the skins better, than the 2 column grid. I get a better impression of the themes, i think. :)

Not to mention my favorite: gehrunnerjunge (there are some nice skins out there, for it)

As I remember, Matonga said that he can help with PHP and Skin-decompiling-on-the-fly.
If this not possible now, we will wait while it will be possible :D

Btw, we don't have a hosting and domain-name

I must disagree! Think bigger, think about all new, non-tech users that will be using this amazing dock. Thinking just about ourselves just don't work for a publicly available product... ;)

Besides, not all available solutions are safe, not all work for Vista, etc. So, a good out-of-the-box, safe and multi-platform (think many flavors of Windows) is highly desirable!

Agreed! :D

@atreiu: don't lose your time arguing with morons; just put them in the ignore list like I did some time ago. You lose nothing - they don't have anything useful to say anyway - and get a much cleaner browsing experience... ;)

the site looks great. good work guys.

can someone reply about the dock not adjusting when the screen size is changed. original post here.

if this is a bug, do i post this in the bug thread?

also, it seems like stacks should show up in a stack box. However in my case, there is no box in which the items are listed. can someone suggest why this would be the case. screenshot attached.

By Panta: offensive words removed. Keep doing so and you'll get suspended!!

I can see the argument for and against shutdown docklets, and I say: Why not? It can't hurt, and it's a lot easier (for a novice) than making a shortcut to whatever your shutdown tool of choice is.

@Deavy, awesome looking site, man. Am I right in thinking sIFR allows you to embed the font into the page? Or is it a flash based technology or something?

Well..I don;t see a need fot that kind of docklet. But u are 50 % right. ;)
Let's concentrate on other stuff ;)
This project has grown very well with our support and I must tell you that on the beggining I was circumspected (if it is the word)

IMHO Vista is DEAD. A total fiasco. Win 7 is a litt' better but not much :)

Cheers,

Vista isn't dead. Vista is a very good OS, although it wasn't at RTM, it is now. Vista won't be dead until win7's release, just like XP wasn't dead until vista's.

1.) resize: It's not possible yet, this feature has be requested before.

2.) stacks: I'm not sure if i understand you correctly, but you are talking about the stack-icons, right? These depend on the skin you are using. Some skins are using the default icons, some don't. But you can change all these internal icons easily, with the help of matongas brand new SkinEditor. You can also add an custom icon onto your stacks, by rightclick -> Stack Icon -> Change :)

Has anybody tried XWD on Win 7, yet? How is it working? What about the docklets? I'm curious! (I have to try it on VirtualBox...)

<_<

Yeah, wrong thread. But seriously, anybody who hates vista should try it again, because it's almost a totally different OS now.

/ontopic, xwd works awesome in vista, especially the window transitions, benefiting from the DWM.

Yes, anything you suspect could be a bug should be posted there. :)

I don't know if you're referring to:

1. the fact that when initially installed XWD won't use an icon for the closed stack (not even the skin-supplied one; you must explicitly select it), which is a bug since the first stack implementation or

2. the fact that the generated thumb occupies almost all the size of the icon, leaving no space for the illusion of being inside the box; I think an image of the m*c one will show what I mean. Please look at the stack and not at other, distracting things being displayed ;) http://delta909.devi...-Flow-102149040

Either case, this is something only bobah can fix (who knows if for the next release?)

vista is a peace of crap :) buggy, slowly and excellent example of MS FAIL!
Other thing is Windows 7 (Se7en). This will be a pretty nice, fast and really good OS.

sIFR is a nice technology that can embed any font via Flash player. Nothing complicated. :)

Deavy, with Micro$oft, the next, yet unreleased version will always be presented as the best, new panacea kind of thing! This beta seems to be well evaluated by Vista users but, remember, it's still almost a Vista SP2 (and built on top of Vista) and nothing more than that. But let's try remaining on topic here, as we'll never be able to impose our opinions over other users and in the end we'll have changed this thread into another 'I love/hate M$' kind of thread...

Hopefully XWD will be kicking a**es at all those 'platforms'! :D
