how to install vmware tools in ubuntu as guest os in windows

how to install vmware tools in ubuntu as guest os in windows. i think i installed it already but i doono how to enable it so that it starts when the guest os boots in the vmware workstation window

ubuntu guest addition will give additional driver support and i think i will be be able to see compiz effects if possible

Don't count on it, VMware doesn't currently have an 3D driver support, and compiz needs that.

vmWare indeed has rudimentary 3d support. Google it.

You gotta run vmware_toolbox (or similar) inside the vm to get mouse pointer integration; no it does not run during gdm, only when logged in.

The autosize guest or full-screen does not work as seamlessly with that either.

Also try virtualbox that may yield better results.
