Ya the limitations of RK with the icons and indicators I tried everything I could think of to get it to look more realistic. If anyone has any ideas I'm open.
hey Ghost, nice work...
Another thing you can do to 'get it to look more realistic' is by making your reflective icons stand in single file ala mac. the base of the icons should form a straight line. in your ss, some are forward (lower) and others are a bit behind (higher).
you can do this by controlling the image/icon sizes prior to doing reflections. Assuming you have a uniform canvas size for all icons, let's say 256x256, resize your actual image to a HEIGHT of 200 pixels (some images are not square) from the top edge of the canvas. IGNORE the free/blank space around the image. When blending the layer mask, start at pixel 150 (from the top of the canvas) then drag pointer down to let't say 252. Do this for all your icons and see the results.
btw, am using GIMP, you can translate the above procedure in PS...hope this helps

although, further still,
I can't seem to alter the size of the dock so that the reflections are visible,
they are off the bottom of the screen,
maybe i'll fix it,
but if anyone can help.... appreciated :-)

You know you must reflect each icon by hand, do you?
