Hi guys

First lemme tell you that this forum is awesome. I really liked the interface. Very cool and simple. :)

I have a simple request!

Can we have the exact time instead of "x minutes ago" in "View New Posts" list? Suppose I check new posts now and it shows the first post was posted "2 minutes ago" and then I check new posts again after a few minutes, it'll again show first post posted "x minutes ago". Then how can I know that whether I read the post or not? I'll have to calculate the time to know.

If we can simply see the time of posting, then there will be no need of this calculation. We can simply see the first post time and then can check new posts again.

So I request to change it.

Thanks. :)

iSpy under Quick Links does this.

No problem. ;)

Usually, I check New post when I first arrive and use iSpy after that if I'm following some threads. Makes things very easy.

^^ Yep. iSpy is very handy. We don't need to refresh the page. It automatically shows the new posts. Awesome.

I never saw such thing in any other forum. Aqua-soft rocks. :D

I'd like to see the exact date and time in the actuals posts instead of "5 hours ago" or "2 weeks ago." I just think it would be more useful.

I'd also want this but only like 5hours and 30minutes ago, not the seconds :P
and so it says for example 2 weeks 1 day instead of just 2 weeks

Why not just like 10-31-07 4:18pm? Don't believe there's such a thing as *too* much information, it couldn't hurt.

What about if it is close then how long ago it was and if it was far in the past then the Date & Time. But less than a day just how long ago... Or you have to click on it and it will say how long ago and switch to the date and time etc...

That's what I was thinking...have it in relative terms (X days/hours ago) depending on how recently it was posted, and after a certain amount of time it will display in Date+Time format.

I changed it to the default setting, going to take some getting used to though. If people gripe and want it back the old way, I may need to revert.

Typically, I've been bugging TIman to change the format to Stardates forever without any luck and then the new guy gets his wish granted instantly :P.

Seriously though, I kinda liked the way it was before. I fail to see how the additional information adds any value besides making it harder to get a quick overview of the new posts query for example. I hope it's just a matter of getting used to.

Hmm I liked the old way.
It just seemed les messy, and I where I live, using AM and PM is just weird xP

For the quick overview, i'll just say like dave double u.

Edit : I think it's the date with MM-DD-YYYY that is messy. (Again, where I live we use DD/MM/YYYY), Maybe just MM/DD or DD/MM (or MM-DD, whatever you like, just hide the year) would make it less messy.
There is no point in showing the full date in the board list since you know that a board won't be without any new message for 1 year without you noticing it.
Since i've noticed the date on the top of posts changed, maybe you just can't hide it for the main board page without letting it in the full topic view.
Just my 2cents

Time of post can be shown like:

Instead of:

11-17-2007 09:15 PM

I think that'll be fine for everyone. :)

Yipes...

I knew that vBulletin had both styles of that feature. I never used it because it took me like, 20 seconds to decipher.

For example:

When I see "Last Post: 20 Minutes Ago" then I know already, and instantly, that the last post was 20 Minutes Ago.

When I see "Last Post: 11-14-2007, 08:40 AM" then I need to think to myself:

"Okay...last post was two days and two hours ago..."

=. I just think it's wayy to confusing. Perhaps we could integrate something into the forums so that a user can choose what they prefer?
