Yea, but you folks that run software like that also kill the sites revenu. A free site like this usually depends on ads to partialy or completely cover the cost of the site. vBulletin is NOT free, and NOT cheap. I know that I pay $85 year for a leased license. If you have the owned license I think it's $160. Not counting hosting and domain fees. Most host providers also charge for bandwidth.
If I was Timan, I'd use the vBulletin plugin that detects those software packages and blocks the site from you until you allow the site to display the ads.

I think that the site itself requires me clicking the ads, not just displaying the ads.
I use AdBlock because i obtain a clean aesthetical look, i know that many sites are supported by the Ad-companies, so when i want to support a website i just open IE and click ads (like every week or two for my fav sites). I still think AdBlock rules, but i know many sites depend of ads.
