Doesn't Vista support shadows on windows by default? I haven't tried it so far. Do you got any errors?

does Vista support shadows when you disable the dwm? (or are you just going to say "ooh, but keep it active if you want shadows. 1mb program vs 30-60mb composite video...)

If you're using Avedesk, maybe you can try this guide to add a shadow to it.
