Hey guys.

My first post here. I have a major annoyance with Flyakite. Everything works perfectly but every now and then I get a left over shadow box where a previous window was once its been closed. I've read over this forum top to bottom with no true answer. Some have suggested it was the shadowing tweak that you have the option of installing, I have found this to be untrue. I have only the basics currently in use. As of now I have the following installed:

Create system restore point
System files
Extras (everything but the flurry screensaver)
Skins (only tiger visual)
Software (only docks and tiger system pref)
Tweaks (only move taskbar)

As you can see I only want the look and feel of a mac system with none of those fancy extras. This problem only comes about when I'm using any version of MSN Messenger. I use this on a daily basis and would LOVE to figure out an answer as to why these shadows will not dissapear. It's highly annoying and the only way to fully get rid of them is to log out: where they again come back. Any help/suggestions/stories would be greatly appreciated.

Again, the same problem. You obviously haven't looked/read all around the forums, because there was a very very recent thread about this. It's a conflict between RKLauncher, and YzShadow.

The fact that it was a recent post may have been an oversight. If I don't even have YzShadow installed I don't understand how it can be a conflict with any other aspect of my computer. Unless of course, no matter what you do and choose to install flyakite installs this software anyways. If that is the case maybe I should look elsewhere for my customization needs. If you could kindly point me in the direction of this thread you say addresses the issue, I will look there and try to find help.

I do have RKLauncher installed and I use it as my default dock. I'm absolutely positive I didn't install the shadow program. It's a total mystery to me as well. I have found that if I keep my chat window without minimizing at ALL the entire time I have none of those boxes left behind. It seems to only have an issue when I minimize. I can live with not minimizing for now, I just wish I didn't have to tiptoe around my own system. Thank you for your help :)

hmm. you could see just in case if you installed it or not. just search for yzshadow.exe, yzshadow, or any combo of those words.

K, I just searched the entire system including hidden files and folders and no program was found. Hmm, any other suggestions?

sorry guys, no clue. if you do not have y'z shadow or windowsfx installed, then you got gremlins. maybe call an exorcist.

Maybe you could provide a screenshot, and we'd find out these are not the same "shadow boxes" created by YzShadow. That might help us get somewhere...

Very odd, though :D.

I am also having this problem. I just did a search of my PC for yzshadow, shadow and windowsfx and got nothing back. I know for a fact I did not install Yzshadow, and I'm not sure about the others.

I don't remember exactly when these popped up. I have searched and read other threads of people with this problem, and I have realized that I can't disable Yzshadow because I can't find it, because I don't have it installed. I am wondering if the thread creator has found a solution besides restarting the computer.

I have a attached a pic to show what it is. I am using the RKluancher (I think that's what it's called, RK or RF) as my dock.

Attached File(s)

I'm wondering what happens with ObjectDock instead of RK.

This happens to me sometimes. Usually I can just disable and enable YzShadow, but sometimes its from the windows notification ballons.

I have those windows notification balloons turned off, so it can't be that for this case.

When I get home, I'll try using Objectdock instead of the RK one. I started up my computer today to check something, and there was no shadow boxes on start-up in the middle of screen. There were none when I went through some folders and some pages on Firefox. I am thinking it has to do with Windows messenger. Like I said, I'll check when I get home.

It isn't a HUGE deal, annoying nonetheless.

Sorry for the bump.

I had same issues, (Not recently)
I don't have any permanent fixes

Just temp. solutions.

I do have RK Launcher, and YzShadow.
But whenever I had remaining shadows, I did as stated above.
I would simply disable YzShadow, then re enable it.

Another solution I'd take an open window and use it like a dish rag, and literally wipe the shadow off the screen. (Hopefully this'll work for the people having issues without YzShadow running.)

I was having this same problem and I believe I have found the solution. I think the shadows are being left by MSN messenger windows. In MSN, there is an option to choose whether you want to show the "Menu Bar", either on the main window, or the separate messaging windows themselves. If you choose to show the menu bar for both, the shadows will no longer appear. Before I did this I was seeing multiple shadow boxes within just a few hours of using my computer. It has now been 2 days since I started showing the menu bar in MSN and I have not seen any shadows since.

Hope this helps!
