I have some duplicates and dead entries in the library.I dont know how to remove them.
is it the only way that I do it manually? That would be too awkward.

I believe you can only do it manually. If you are asking, I don't think iTunes has an automatic duplicate finder wizard or something, Although that would be handy.
The only problem with that, is when you have songs in normal albums and complimations/singles, etc those are duplicates but generally you want to keep them.

Click on view in the menu, and choose 'Show Duplicates' That should help.
As for finding songs that aren't in your hard disk but in still in your libary, I don't know a quicker way besides doing it manually.

iTunes Folder Watch 2.0.1
Publisher's website:
http://albumbrowser.galleytech.com/
This useful FREE tool allows you to set up watch folders and to evaluate whether there are any new tracks in them which do not exist in iTunes, and allows you to add them selectively or fully automatically. It can be run as a taskbar process and so will continually monitor the watch folders, alternatively it may be run in the foreground on demand. Version 2.0.1.6 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

I've already posted this once, but I'll repost it.
It's a script that removes any local track that doesn't have a file associated with it.
Use it carefully - it won't prompt you for confirmation.
