I created a program thant looks like the About This Mac window. I think there might be another program out there like this, but I couldn't find one with a working link. I hope someone will find this useful. Please tell me what you think.

To run it you will need the Microsoft .Net Framework.
if you don't have it you can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...57-034D1E7CF3A3
but I find alot of people have it installed without knowing.

All the settings are in the Setting.ini file
it holds all the text and what the buttons link to.

Thank You.

Update: Now starts in middle of the screen
Update: New Version 2.1 Changes: editable label, button and image sizes/positions, and replaceable images (this includes button images); also editable window title and size.

this looks really good, thx. one thing: the software update button opens the root of c, as you know. you should have the shortcut to windows/ms update. i tried editing the ini file and changed c: to
C:WINDOWSsystem32rundll32.exe C:WINDOWSsystem32muweb.dll,LaunchMUSite
but it gives me a jit error. i'm sure there's a way to do it, though. anyways, looks reaaly close to a real mac, thx!

I linked the More Info button to C: because I didn't know what to link it to. I tried running what you said from the Run dialogue and it says it couldn't find muweb.dll, and I tried searching for it but couldn't find it. I would link it to it that by default and re-upload it but I can't find the file your talking about. I probably am doing something wrong.

I think the way it's set up it can't take arguments to programs.
You could make a shortcut linking to that and then link the program to the shortcut.
sorry if I'm being stupid.

ah. muweb.dll exists only if you use microsoft update as opposed to windows update. i believe windows update uses waupdate.dll, something like that. right-click on windows update on your start menu and get the properties. then try copying and pasting that into the ini. maybe that will work?

I changed the default in the Settings.ini to windows update and re-uploaded it. To link it to
C:WINDOWSsystem32rundll32.exe C:WINDOWSsystem32muweb.dll,LaunchMUSite
you can replace the Update.lnk file with a shortcut to whats above. I would test this but I don't use Microsoft Update. Please tell me if you got it working.

You should link it to
%SystemRoot%system32wupdmgr.exe

The program wont accept system variables but the shortcut is linked to
%SystemRoot%system32wupdmgr.exe

I will try to improve it and release another version, but I need some ideas of other ways to improve it
please. Thank you

Great - except, the lines do not provide enough character space for Processor and RAM. For example, I use an :

3.4GHz Intel® Core™2 Extreme

which will not fit and:

16GB DDR2 SDRAM

which will also not fit -

could you increase the number of characters please? The nomenclature of OS X displays the devices as shown above, I would think that should be possible - hope so. Other than that, great work visually and functionally - thank you for a nice contribution.

@COMBOAUDIO
I think that you should download new version and then set your settings.ini to this to make it fit now
//application text
Mac OS X
Version 10.4
Software Update...
Processor
3.4GHz Intel® Core™2 Extreme
Memory
16GB DDR2 SDRAM
