Avescripter is a "Scripting Engine" that allows the anyone to create desklets with JavaScript or VBScript.

When you download the complete package of avescripter, you will get a list of skins that come with it. These skins are "desklets".

Note, you might want to download the BETA version of avescripter. It is quite stable and has many improvments.

A common problem that existed with the first release of avescripter is that if your system didn't have MSSCripter registered, avescripter desklets would not work. The beta version has corrected that problem by self registering the msscript if it detects the file on the system.

The beta version also has a SDK desklet with some examples. All avescripters have 2 parts, the XML part which defines the desklet, and the second part is the scripting code it self.

Hope this clears the stuff up.

Also, note, there is also many other desklets that don't use avescripter. And then there is also SysStat which also has more desklets.
