Presumably they're for Resolution Independence, when any monitor can be any size. After all, 100x1000 pixel icons will look tiny when your monitor is set to 5000x4670.

Is there any chance of posting those Leopard icons as original icns? Apple does each size individually so they would look good both at 128 and 16 and converting these just isn't the same

Speaking of Core Animation, is it possible that we could get the massive icons for the Core Series? I imagine they look heavenly at that size.
