The Tango Shell Patcher is a mostly self-explanatory graphical wizard designed to make integrating the Tango icon set into your system files as easy as installing any other piece of software. Likewise, it includes a reloader to re-Tangofy your system files if necessary, and an uninstaller to restore them to their original state. It is designed to work on all language versions and editions of Windows XP and Server 2003. 64-bit versions of Windows are NOT supported. If you are experiencing trouble with it, or just want to want to learn some useful tips and tricks, visit the website at http://tango.benpbrown.com/?page=faq

It currently includes implementations of the Tango icon theme, the Tangerine icon theme developed by the Ubuntu art team, Gnome-Icon-Theme2 and NLD10's Industrial-Icon-Theme, and various pieces of artwork created by myself and culled from various sources to round it out in places.

As this is Aqua-Soft, your feedback, good or bad, will make this beast all the better. Many thanks to those who've volunteered opinions, chances are you either helped development along, or incremented by one my ego counter :) There are some icons that are not patched. I'm not going to throw together some random pixmap just to satisfy the look; I'd like to try to stay at least mostly metaphorically correct to the ideas of the original icon creators, the Gnome HIG, and so forth. Many things in Windows will not have counterparts in any Free/OSS environment, and I'm both lazy and busy, and so they will more than likely not be added to the patcher anytime soon.

Last update (2007/03/16): Various theme updates, support for a few more NT5.1/5.2 editions, and a few bugfixes that were just sitting around waiting to be released. Nothing particularly new or interesting.

Sweet, finally left the simple .BAT conversions and went for a full-on shellpack :)
Great work, I've loved the Tango icons for a while, and Mac Ports are getting boring/annoying.

Ok, i installed it. There is a little problem though! I get a window saying explorer.exe caused an error and has to be closed. I went to Event Viewer and got this "Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b." Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks.

That's not quite what I'd call a "little" problem. And yes, I got your mail, and the thread notification at the same time. Silliness all around!

Neowin topic is the production topic IMO but this could sure as hell turn into one too.

In case darkt.net goes down (1GB bandwidth) I have a vertigosity sanctioned entire-site-mirror.

Mmmh... that probably means that resource hacker isn't running on your kernel binaries, but I could be wrong. Can you send me the output in the patcher's "logs" folder for those files?

Is that a complaint about my replacements, or the concept in XP that they mimic?

LOL it's just like taking your car to the mechanic's...for some reason, after maybe 8-10 tries, those 2 files are now patched correctly. just a ghost in the machine, i guess. anyways...

other than that little hurdle, i really dig this. thx!
