As the work on the new front page progresses (all hail Timmy!) we've started gathering the team of people that will be responsible for maintaining it.

As you are all aware, front page has been in a chaos (or the lack of it) for some time now and we've decided to wipe the slate clean with this new update we're working on. This is where you as members of this community come in.

We need a small group of dedicated members to take care of newsposting on daily/weekly basis as well as people willing to write monthly reviews (editorials?) that will be posted on the front page.

You should be (but not a required) a member for at least a month, not younger than 15 yrs old and preferably have some experience as a writer. I will serve as the head of the newsposting team, as well as the editor and all-around assistant to the members of the team and will be there to help your and answer all the questions you may have.

More details will be available in next few days but for now, we would like to see who's interested.
If you are interested in becoming a newsposter, post your name, age, time zone, interesting tidbits about yourself and why you think you would be the right person for the job.

If you have further questions, please send me a PM and i will answer them as soon as possible.

EDIT:

I am sorry to say that I no longer can apply to this job mainly because I am going to France for two weeks this summer, and because my band is finally coming along.

If things change, and you still need a newsposter I'll let you know.
Thanks.

About Myself: I'm from Holland, but fluent in (at least writing) English. I've been on the internet for at least since I was a little eight-year old ****let, so expect no less than nearly flawless, spell-checked posts from me. I also have a blog, although it's in Dutch.
I've written a lot in the past, and since I'm studying ICT, I'll probably need to write a lot more in the near future.

And of course, I'm an aqua-phile. Why isn't that mentioned in the requierments :P?

Just a note from a former newsposter, don't apply unless you are 100% sure you can devote the time to it. Writing is a pain in the ass especially if there are a lot of items to write about...after a while you sound repetitive so unless you think you can handle this I reccomend you back off from posting.

Though you might think we don't want to hear people warning you off the job, take his words to heart. Don't apply unless you know you can do it--in some sense, it's even more disappointing if we expect you to be able to do it and you can not.

Hehe.... I was one of the longer newsies, but only because Timmeh forgot to downgrade my account after a year. :P

Really really really be willing to write not only for yourself, but for others as well because people will fail to write for their scheduled time. You must be willing to go the extra mile at any given, usually random time.

Best of luck to all who apply and all who are admitted. :D

About Myself: Well ive been in journalism for 2 years now (freshman and sophomore years) so ive had expirience with writeing for a paper. Been lurking Aqua-Soft for a while, visit frequently every day. Im willing to devote the time to be a newsposter. i speak english, thats it, but these are english forums, so that shouldent be a problem. i have windows and linux, own a copy of windows blinds 5, so i can use wb themes and vs's. and i have practically no life, so im on the computer most of the time. Right now im on summer, but during the school year im on a computer 80% of the time, (newspaper, yearbook, digital art, math). And I live im Maple Valley, right next to seattle. Also, don't know if it matters, but i have some experience in php, html, css, limited js.

I have plenty of time, even when I'm not at home. I'm doing a compuer related study, which doesn't really demands a lot from me. All I really need to know, is how much you want me to post :). Of course, letting people send stuff in would really help a whole lot too!

newsposters are just gonna slack off and in a couple of months there'll be another thread like this... so far there've been like 7 newsposting application threads??? people need incentive to write. so dont apply if you think its some fun blogging thing.

And here's what I get for not checking A-S for a month.

I'm an old hand, should help be needed I'll be here. I would be glad/honored to offer my services yet again.

I'd like to add that the opinions offered by other fellow former newsies from above are definitely more than valid. Especially when the news falls behind for a few days, even thinking about sifting through everything to get a list of things to write about becomes a groan-worthy task. Don't even try to undertake it unless you're totally committed. There will be times when you'll be the only person carrying the whole team (at least there have been times where I've been doing it), and if you simply don't have the time to do it just don't apply.

OK...here we go!...I'm an old git (49) drops by about 12 times a day to see what a going on. Quite into desktop modding...although everyone else here does it better. Can write a bit (English only).
Still listening to Hanno/Karn/Killing Joke.....urm....GSOH...own house...seeks women...lots of! Er...quite fancy NightCrawler even though I've never met him! Oh and of course Amber. I will show no bias whatsoever...even to the n** things. I've always had the greatest respect for the mods on this forum...just ask Duckie, Goku. Seph, Unbe and Pe6er! I'm sure Grim (ex Shinobi Guy) can also vouch for me!

Err...Oh yes...Hic! Christ!...where am I?
