Hi, I was sitting here enjoying your great program, and Im thinking jeeze.. your doing this all outta faith. how about setting up a paypal account for donations, I would be glad to donate to your cause, as long as you dedicate the money to pumping out a stable program with most the features that the real mac one has or as close to it as possible, while still be effective. or just keep the program updated with options etc. But if that is the case, I would be the first to throw ya some money. Heaven knows nothing in this world is free. And as long as you listen to the thoughts of your fans that is cool too :) hehe like when we beta test it and find problems or want extra features, they be worked on... I know this sounds kinda mean while being nice lol but I mean donations are great for a product that is kept up with and designed for the users. I'm not saying my ideas would have to be listened to but the general ideas of the people using it. ya know. :) To make this product the best it can be, so I don; tinstall it and say.. welll maybe i should try to figure out anotehr progam like Moby.. I mean because this is good and all but maybe.. the other is better. I wanna be sure that yours is the only one I want to use and keep up with.

Post your ocmments to this article. Nothing I have said needs to be permanent, feel free to pic apart what i say and make it better :)

If donations do happen I just hope it will not lead to greed. Kinda like what happen to trillian, they started out free and accepted donations then they started selling there newer version of trillian(v1) for $25 and Trillian v1 isn't significantely better at all.

I disagree, I have been with trillian sinc eth ebeginning and I think they deserve the 25 dollars per program, they have put up with a lot of BS, with icq AIM IRC everything they all tried to shut them down, an they just adapted though thick and thin fo rth ebetter of the community.

But that's my opinion :)

I'm not sayin trillian doesn't deserve the money, but they could have added some better features. And I was just using them as an example of a company that went from free to fee(atleast they old one is still available). There are other companies that make better examples but I can't think of any right now. But I do support the dock programmers and they deserve all the donations they can get if they start accepting them.

hey TheGodfather,
first of, thanks for the offer, its really kind of you and I strongly respect it.

lets try and leave the offer to come from the author himself. no need to raise ideas which other people would NOT be able to utilize, please.

I was in the military, and trust me if u initiate a request to clean the toilets in order to show the commanders how ambitious you are, not only you'll clean it with your vest and helmet on, they will also choose you for the next times as well.

Im being harsh.. and im sorry, but that extreme example might make a point ;)

I ADORE yz dock and personally i think its the ultimate dock out of the 2 (so far). I would love to compliment and encourage yamaguchi as much as possible, aid him with his work and even pay him if he demands (cause im really addicted to it) but i think this decision should be his, and not by 3rd party. thanks.

edit==> yz isnt a comparison to a commander of course..he is a true master, and like you all, i would love to contribute as much as possible - though let him decide that please.

You see there is a difference between asking to clean some toilets and suggesting setting up a donation box. See cleaning the toilets is a sh*tty thing to do(no pun intended) but setting up a donation box makes it possible for people such as myself to reward him for his efforts. No where did I say he should ask for money for his program, just set up donations. As you I would hate to pay for it. But woul dbe more than happy to donate.

THEGODFATHER>

Well -to be honest with you dude, im pretty much nutural about it. im just worried cause we've had some BAD experience with donation offer for something i forgot in the last aqua-soft edition (not duckie's server - thats nothing related anyway.)

its all cool dude, people might agree, and yz's gonna be nice and say "er...sure, what the heck, thanks - though let it be optional!":D - that would be a typical answer from him i assume.

just as a background, i purchased starCock's OBJECTDESKTOP, freaking 50$ - to enjoy their products and mainly to support their hard work (at the time) and im greatful for what they've done.

so im not against dons in general.

hope for good my friend, :)

GOKU

p.s. my example wasnt identical to this case, of course (i know those things from close), though the point of initiating was identical.

I'm with Goku on this one....it's not advisable to offer money unless the author feels he deserves it and that he will not be able to keep his product in development without funding...in which case he will ASK for donations....then it's fine to donate and support him as much as possible...
