Hi,
This is bug concerning the Boot Screen.

Previously I had Flyakite v3.0 installed and the Boot Screen worked fine.

Upon downloading Flyakite v3.5 (I have the latest version with the Current User Settings icon fix)
I reinstalled the Boot Screen just for updates sake.

Now when I run ScanDisk or some other utility which runs at bootup the Apple loading screen appears but it reverts back to a black screen when the Scandisk screen is meant to be showing.

Has the Boot Screen been changed for v3.5? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but the black screen still appears. It means I cannot see what is happening when Scandisk is running.

As i said before, the Boot Screen worked fine in v3.0, I could see the Scandisk working.

Is there a fix for this? If all else fails I will install the Boot Screen again from v3.0 rather than v3.5.
Hopefully that will work, I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.

My system specs:
Windows XP Home Edition
Boot Screen and Login screen installed from v3.0, and reinstalled with v3.5
I also have .cpl icons installed from v3.5

Thank you for your time, and for all the hard work put into making the app, it truly is a masterpiece.

**EDIT** I reinstalled the Boot Screen twice from v3.0, it now works as before.
:)

Try copy ntoskrnl.exe from Flyakite backup ?:WINDOWSFlyakiteOSXBackupntoskrnl.exe. It's work for me.

2flyakite: I have same bug on my Windows 2003 SP1, version of ntoskrnl.exe is 5.2.3790.1830 (srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447) (English (United States)).
When I recovery this file from backup and boot to the Windows, this file automatically patched by System Files Updater and after two reboots I need recovery this file again. :-)

Thanks for the point.
Recently i made a clean installation of Windows, all patches and FlyakiteOSX, same bug happened. Even worse, when i copied ntoskrnl.exe from installation cd it didn't work, i'll check now for you method.

add Okay. Your method works.
add2 Well, nothing to do, but just use FlyakiteOSX de-installer for "boot screen".

Ok, I ran into a MAJOR problem when attempting to uninstall flyakite v3.0.

The uninstaller completed sucessfully, but when I rebooted, Explorer.exe could not run because Normaliz.dll was not found.

As a result, I have no taskbar, am unable to open anything other than the task manager (and only core window, all dialogs will not open because iertutil.dll was not found.

I am not sure if I am missing anything else, as I cannot open anything else to check.

Currently I am on my other computer, and I REALLY need help resolving this issue. I really don't want to have to reinstall XP, and if I do have to, I don't know how to go about it. I did get backup CD's of XP and everything, but am not sure how to use them, and again I would really prefer not losing everything on my system.

Help would be very much appreciated.

128 pci radeon x300
norton anti virus corpoate edition
Flakite 3.5
Tiger Visual Style
OS X SOunds

All Extras
All System files

not sure which tweaks
none of the extras

thanks

EDIT:
I went did a system restore and for now everything is ok-i am reapplying version 3.0 for now

Did you check task manager? What program is using the CPU? Nothing should be causing this to happen. You just said "All Extras" and "All System Files" and then you said "none of the extras". Which is it?

Flyakite, But what can you say abouth that bug with Boot Screen in Win2003? Will it be fixed in some rebuild 3.5 or only in 4.0?
And what about some bugs in toolbar buttons in some applications?

okay, here's a stupid bug...

in the readme, the chapter 1 description says 'introducted.' that's the problem with kids today: they got all these programming skills but can't talk in a goodly fashion.

I also have a problem with the boot screen. I'm using windows server 2003 sp1.
It's not working. I'm still getting the normal windows server 2003 boot screen, though I have
chosen to include the boot screen option during installation.
I even installed a win2k3 on a new machine, I've got the same problem. No Boot Screen! :(

For everybody having Windows 2003 Server Enterprise with SP1:

I had the same problem with ntoskrnl.exe.
After 2 full reinstalls that were a real pain I managed to find out the answer to this problem.
If happens:
1. go with the recovery console to Windows/System32/
2. delete ntoskrnl.exe
3. rename ntoskrnl.exe.FlyakiteOSX to ntoskrnl.exe
4. reboot
This solved the problem for me, but like I said, I paid by having to reinstall all.
Hope it is usefull.

Well, that was exactly that I've done before, recovered old ntoskrnl.exe from backup in FlyakiteOSX directory, I suppose. That fixes OS work, but the bootscreen sticks to ol' good Win2003 look.
I'm really sad with this bug, after all it was the first bug in FlyakiteOSX 3.0 that was noticed and it still isn't fixed (well, okay, the bug in 3.0 was different, it changed bootscreen, but it looked ugly, and now it crashes all system). As long as in FlyakiteOSX 2.0 all worked correctly both under XP and 2003 I'm really wondering.

Hm, that's odd. Did you check "boot screen" option in installer?
UI'm having no problems in XP, but just in Win2003.

Well I install it the first time w/o checking the "boot screen" option then rebooted. I then changed my mind and wanted the boot screen. I then ran the installer again and check the boot screen. Rebooted and didn't see the effect. It should still work right?

I guess so, but try uninstalling and making clean installation.

hi! I'm on windows XP SP2 and I have the boot screen bug too. maybe someone with a working bootscreen could post their boot.ini contents so I can try modifying it myself. version 3.0's bootscreen worked for me, so I hope this works!

FYI, my boot.ini has the "noguiboot" option on. just need a working boot.ini config I can try (for Flyakite 3.5)

The bootscreen doesn't show after the first reboot, it comes up after the seccond...

There is a possibility that it is not your boot.ini but your ntoskrnl file.
