I've just completed very quickly a wireless meter. KoL was nice enought to make me a couple of small images.

This is very small desklet showing the wireless signal strength.

You can download it here

Those PNGs are interesting. It looks like the bottom one is basicaly used as a threshold map on the second one to control which bars get displayed as green (thresholded by the signal strength that is). The top one I would assume would just be the background.

Ya... I don't have alot of experience with sysstate. But I believe the way meters/masking work is the same or similiar as sysstate.

I was after all inspired by sysstate approach for the meters. :)

pcm, I just used the PNG Recall posted with your desklet. It's a simple matter of chopping the image up in Photoshop and replacing the original images.

I can send it to you or post it if you wish.

For reference, the image Recall found is from the wireless networking dialog in XP.

If you can just package it up and send it to the site that would be perfect! :)

I uploaded it to the site pcm. Here's the link for anyone interested:

Do you think I should put this in the releases subforum? It's too simple of a mod if you ask me.

Very nice and works well !!

PCM, is there a way to get it to show the network name?

Oh I extracted these ico files from XP. Is it possible for anyone to make higher res versions of these to mod?

I'll look into the ability to get the SSID. I found one possible place.

Just need to learn how to convert ascii char numb to char in VBScript. Would be easy in delphi :P

Hi, I have some new wireless pngs for you to use after gathering images from the net. However I dont know how to add them into the the widget as i could not find an image to use as a mask? Maybe you could figure a way now you have a whole set of images?

here is an example of the images included

Well i pm'd you with no reply.... Been waiting for an answer on how I can get my png to be recognised. I added them to the folder and named them the same but all I get is a black box in the control panel and nothing on screen.

Help is appreciated on how to import my PNG to this desklet.

You didn't name them the same. You're still missing the mask file. It's not that hard to make one, use the default mask as a basis and edit the images you have accordingly.
