First, I must admit that I realy like Flyakite OSX 3. However, I have noticed a problem and cannot think how to solve it.

Three days after installing OSX 3, I tried playing a video file that I had downloaded. The file played, but the video is very jerky. The audio is fine, just a problem with the video. Knowing that I had never had this problem before, I restored a backup of XP which did not have OSX 3, and the video played fine.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is there a cure?

System: XP SP2 and all updates. P4, 768MB RAM. ATI Radeon 7000 Card.

TIA.

Regards, and thanks for an otherwise good app.

I had the same problem, and I noticed it that after installing Flyakyte v2.0. Videos play oddly. However, only those that need DivX v5.0 or newer. Those that only need DivX v4.5 or older play with no problem as well as those that need XdiV. I might be wrong though, but I think it has something to do with the use of the CPU. Maybe the more experienced guys here in the forum have a better answer...

Thanks, Charnoke. I forgot to mention in my post that I had tried both a .wmv and .avi file, both resulting in jerky video but perfect sound.

Hope someone knows what's wrong.

seems like problem with MPEG-4 type files... I haven't installed FlyakiteOSX 3 yet.. cause it kept crashing my system at bootscreen, I'm waiting 3.1.... but here is something you might wanna try... try re-installing Windows Media Codecs (v8) as well as DivX and XviD after installing FlyakiteOSX 3. As well, you can try using some other media player (like Media Player Classic by Gabest) to check if it's a problem with player.

OK, I reinstalled OSX 3 and the video problem was still there as expected. Following that, I installed Windows Media Codecs 9 and the problem was still there. Then, I reinstalled WMP10 and the problem was still there.

There must be a reason for this - something that is changed during the OSX 3 setup - that can be rectified. I really want to use OSX 3, but not at the expense of watching jerky videos.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Well... it seems that noone has a really good answer to this, but the problem is still there. I don't think is a problem with the codecs. As apex2000 mentioned, after installing WMP10 and others codecs the problem is still there. I tried to install all the codecs again, including AC3Filter, DivX, XdiV and Windows Media Codecs, and nothing worked. Also, I tried to go around this problem trying with other Video players, like WMP10, RealPlayer v8 and "The Playa" (DivX player, although I'm not sure if this is still the name) but the problem still persisted. All this happened to me with Flyakyte v2.0 and, due to all this, I had to uninstalled. When v3.0 was released I though the problem was solved but is still there... I don't think there's an easy solution to this. Flyakyte v3 is so far the best MacOS emulation I've seen or try, but this problem is just to much to give for emulation. I hope someone can solve this problem so I can start using Flyakyte v3...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can fix this...

Hmmm... now that you mention (@Charnoke), that this happened to you after installing FlyakiteOSX 2 also, I wonder what it could be cause I never had problems with Videos after FlyakiteOSX 2. Hell my system can even play videos with 20mbps bitrate without a single jerk.

So let's see what it is... it's not player specific as it's the same on all players, not codec specific either.

I'll try n look into it as to what exactly component it could be, but I'm myself is baffled at this. If you guys come up with anything do let everyone know.
