Revision History ReadMe First
v0.2 (06-08-2003)
+ Added a pop-up menu for better interface
+ Added Metric Units for Tempreture ©
+ Added Label options to show/hide current
Location, Zip and/or Condition
+ Added an "Update Now!" to the pop-up menu
+ Left Clicking the Docklet will load
weather.com for more information
or selecting "Visit Weather.com..."
from the pop-up menu
+ Added more icon integration
+ Added INI file for more features

See the weather_readme.txt file for more information on how to config the INI file.

v0.1 (06-02-2003)
o First Release
After loading the docklet, right click and select "Update Now!" from the popup menu. From the menu you can update the Location by selecting the "Weather for". Any changes you make from the menu will automatically update the INI file.

Please note that you have to select "Update Now!" (or Middle Click w/your mouse) to update the docklet with your NEW selections and changes.

All the data is fed from weather.com. International weather.com support is yet NOT available. This requires a new scripting for some of the data, but it is duable (maybe v0.3).

Weather.com offers 47 weather conditions. This docklets contains only 25 icons to indicate conditions. So, many of the conditions are narrowed down to the closest one. However, enabling the "Show Condition" under the label menu will show you the correct/up-to-date textual condition from the site.

Warning: This program is still beta and it is buggy! Use it for testing purposes only.
Download
DLL & Icons: weather_all.rar (599Kb)

Installation

Exract the above RAR file inside your Yz Docklets folder
Right click the dock and select "Add Doclet..."
Highlight "Weather" and click on "Add to Dock"
Note: Do NOT select an Icon when Weather loads! It should select one by itself.

This docklet was amazing to begin with, and now it is even more amazing.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to anything that you make come up.

Thanks,
FatAxl :own:

(Y) Works perfectly! Albiek, is there a way to not show the "F" (or "C")
as in 0.1? THANX

Great work albeik! I'm happy with the docklet so, but here are my suggestions if you want to make it perfect: ;)

1. Label text formatting (sorry if I bother too much with this but I'm quite perfectionist)

2. Possibility of adding the temperature to the label.

3. Possibility of adding/non adding nothing at all over the weather icon (SHOW_TEXT=0/1)

And that's all. Thank you for your attention.

Ender.

"1. Label text formatting"
Is enabled. In the .ini replace "Arial Black" with the font you want. :surfer_dude:

SUPERB stuff pal

my humbble sugestion for a next release (if applicable):

•add the possibilty to show the Humidity
•add the possibility to show the 'feels like XX'

-note-
it happens to me that the docklet doesnt update when the dock auto-start (on windows start). I have to manual update it.
Only me?

thanks for sharing your work.
respect.
aniba!

Albeik,

Very, very nice! Love the options...keep up the great work!

Long, long time ago use to go to a Prep school in the N.E. area...it brought back memories when I saw your (default) loaded zipcode...

It should work.
Type "City_Name, United Kingdom" without the "" marks.
eg, "Oxford, United Kingdom" or "Cambridge, United Kingdom"
Hope that helps

Is enabled. In the .ini replace "Arial Black" with the font you want.

What I mean is the possibility of customizing the label as you wish. For example:

LABEL_TEXT = city, temperature

or

LABEL_TEXT = condition, temperature

Really well done docklet Albiek. It runs fine on both my home and work machine for a beta. I like the options you added, (especially the celsius addition). I look forward to seeing what you add next!

Fantastic work again Albeik, especially the addition of Celsius. :woot:

But I still can't get "Paris, France" to work on the docklet, even though this is the exact parameters used on the weather.com city search. Can anyone advise?

Great work
... also German cities works fine (City, Germany) (Y)

@Eric Rabesandratana:
I think the problem for Paris or other cities are two or more results :(

Search Results on www.weather.com for "Paris, France":
> Cities
> Paris, France
> Paris/Charles De Gaulle, France

One little bug: when I click the docklet, instead of opening weather.com in my default browser (Firebird), it opens in Internet Explorer.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but one of the main reasons I use Firebird is for the pop up blocking, and weather.com is riddled with them.
Thanks a lot for this docklet, it really is wonderful!
