AveScripter Tutorial
Creating a widget for AveDesk

(ps. AveScripter will be available very soon).

What is AveScripter?
AveScripter is a scriptable desklet created by pcm that runs on top of AveDesk. With AveScripter, creating desklets is as easy as throwing some images, an XML file and a script together (well, sorta). While AveScripter comes with a bunch of default, high-quality desklets, making new desklets is an option too.

This Tutorial
This tutorial will guide the reader through the process of making a desklet for AveScripter that gets a list of the latest desklets uploaded to http://avedesk.philc.ca. Several aspects will be discussed: layers, XML-sources, scripting, parameters, multiple sides, flipping, etc...

say AndreasV word is a beter format for tutorials (MHO) cause lots of times, the margins are set & there are times when code are deplayed on multiple lines (Vs just one) due to margin settings. In word these margins can be edit or set, and the tables are not written in stone. they can be scaled to the user preference thus allowing the code to stay on one page vs. several....

pdf is nice, but word is better (MHO)

PDF is the de facto industry standard (PS used to be).

Pretty nice joke - release of a tutorial, before the tutored one can touch a thing mentioned in the document.
I recommend to re-release the AveDesk as a full package (with kgraphik's installer), including all the docs and featured widgets. And maybe even SDK.

P.S. Willy, is that Starscream on your avatar? That one was my favorite among all the Transformers!

God I hope the app gets released soon, I for one am sick of the endless amount of Avetunes releases. Nobody seems to make anything else!

True, but can not edite a PDF file or pull the table borders out, to preventing context such as code to be displayed on multiple lines..when only 1 will do :)

You're to be commended on your fine English for chapters 1-5 :P.

Nice job--this will be extremely helpful if I ever get around to making a desklet ;).

Thanks!
