Items involved: Any desklet involving these effects
Windows Version: Windows XP Pro SP1
DirectX version: 9.0c
System specs:Pentium M 1600 mhz, 1.2 ghz, 512mb of RAM
Graphics card & drivers version: Ati Mobility Radeon 9000
Desklets running: PIDL, Avetunes, Sysstats, Chalkboard
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a desklet that uses flip/suck animations (i.e. Chalkboard)
2. Flip it - flip it back
3. Hover, press ctrl, click close button
Special notes: On the first few runs of 1.3 the suck animation worked spectacularly. Flip, however, didn't work at all. Now, both don't work. I've checked and rest global settings so both options are ticked, but nada. EDIT: Just reinstalled 9.0c and the suck effect now works again, but I've still yet to see the flip effect in action.
And another one:

System specs:Pentium M 1600 mhz, 1.2 ghz, 512mb of RAM
Graphics card & drivers version: Ati Mobility Radeon 9000
Desklets running: PIDL, Avetunes, Sysstats, Chalkboard
Steps to reproduce:
1. Activate Showcase
2. No desklets show up
3. Deactivate showcase
4. Activate Showcase on all desklets
5. Desklets appear for 1-2 seconds and look washed out, before disappearing completely

I know how to solve that problem. When you install the new avedesk...make sure the other one is deleted from BOTH areas a folder is created. There's one i where ever you installed the file itself to...i.e., your C:Program Files....or elsewhere
There's also another folder that gets created in your system files which are hidden in your Documents and Setting. To get to that particular folder, you need to Click on your explorer menu-->Tools-->Folder Options-->Check Show hidden files and folders
Once that is done, go to your local disk, documents and settings, application data, and delete the avedesk folder there.
And there you go, problem solved

No prob. Pic1 is what happens after I hit AveDesk.exe, and before any Desk/Docklets load. Pic2 is what it continues into. (When this window launches, I have to hit cancel probably half-a-dozen times. Afterwards, my theme loads normally.)

Still has the same problem: I click the close button, and it simply dissapears. Do you still have the preview version of avedesk 1.3? I could see if the sucky effect still works there, if it doesnt, it could be something related to my machine only...
