Is AquaDock a rip of Y'z Dock? is Aqua Dock spyware, malware or something else evil?

Does someone know the real story?

Nope, but Aqua Dock is illegal, I believe.

not 100% sure is the real story, but The-Dock-Which-Cannot-Be-Named should be a reshacked version of Y'z Dock. Being just reshacked (only dialogs, test and icons were changed) it should contain the same code as the original dock, so no spyware. Use the search? on this forum and you should be able to dig the truth yourself, in the past (ancient) threads

...although I read through all fifteen pages of that RKLauncher post and i saw nothing posted about aquadock. Of course, i could have missed it.

Thanks, i guess i will do the legwork and find out what the story is by searching myself. just thought someone would know or send me to a post about it.

If Aquadock is illegal - does that mean it's illegally made (and easily distributed) or illegally used (by users)? Or does it mean that Y'z dock was hacked illegally, and repackaged as another product - aquadock? For a **** like me, it's hard to understand the story...

found this posted by gnubug in september of 2003:

If I took Mr. Y's Dock and opened with a hex editor and changed some words around, this is what aquadock is. It's complete bull**** and is just some little ****le$$ piece of crap trying to make people think that he wrote something.

Open the file with a hex editor, and open Y'z and compare before anyone posts things like "Then what's the big deal about enhancing someone's app?"

First, it isnt enhanced, nothing changed but some words...NOTHING.

Simply put, its a fake, not a clone, nothing new, and is complete bull****.

Open in a hex editor and compare the files, Y'z name and Y'z dock version numbers are in there, the files are exact, just words changed that show on the outside have been changed.

Mr. Y'z is mad as hell about this wannabe, as this ****le$$ person is doing nothing more then getting him in more trouble, as I pointed out a Long, long time ago when the ****le$$ wonder came here posting aquadock and acting like he made it."

I think that answers my question...except...how can that ILLEGAL program continue to be distributed and Y'zDock is totally gone?

AquaDock is a cheap hack of YzDock who's further distribution is forbidden.

No talk about AquaDock is allowed.
