I heard a lot of beople complaining about RK Launcher that it doesn't have this feature form OD or other feature from other docks...
I tried out OD+ and I must say that I had such a bad impression that I uninstalled 20 minutes after plaing with it.

First of all it uses 20MB+ of memory and don't look at the default taskbar Mem Usage look at VM Size that's the real test on how much mem it uses...
it uses the SetProcessWorkingSetSize API function to give you the impression that is using very little memory...
in fact it only gets down your system performance. Same thing about magnification - takes 100% processor....

5 more things I don't like about OD:

-when you mouseout the dock it's incredibly choppy ad not smooth
even though in the settings i set the extra-smooth option
-right click on any item on dock - menu appears,
now click on the dock outside the menu - it will open some application or activate an item
-sometimes it just doesn't unmagnify
-when you drag out an item from dock an empty space remains there
-when you drag something to the dock and drag it out the animation
is the following: first it unmagnifies in just one single step
then it stretches the empty space instead of doing it smooth...

and I can enumerate 100 more at least but I just don't want to serve as a bug reporter for OD.

Conclusion: I don't think i'll ever use OD.

Don't worry about those complaints. Your launcher emulates Mac's real dock more closely than ObjectDock does. Please continue in your efforts and try not to include useless stuff that OD has. I have been a long-time promoter of ObjectDock and RK Launcher has already replaced it. Thank you Raduking. :)

@Raduking please don't start picking on other docks. That's unworthy. Why would you do such a thing?
Learn from their flaws or mistakes. Make us the most 1-on-1 OS X dock possible feature-wise.
Again, featurewise, so just make it possible for us to enable features so that your Launcher mimics Apple's dock.

If this is any kind of relief: I used both yzdock and objectdock, and yet the dock on my desktop is yours...

I kept flipping between OD and RK. I'm sticking with RK. It's coming along so fast how can you stick with anything else??

Personally, I think you should forget all the other Windows docks and aim to make your dock the most OS X like, after all, you're target consumer is the average Aqua-Soft member, and most people come here to achieve a more OS X environment on their PC.

Raduking....I agree with your impressions of OD...I try every new release to see if it gets better, to no avail. You would think having the biggest corporate "backing" it would run circles around the other choices....but it doesn't. That's why I'm still using Yz...and leaning more heavily to RK with each nightly build.

I totally agree with the OD statements by Raduking. It doesn't magnify smoothly at all, real choppy. The dock that I'm using, and can never seem to stay away from, is Y'z. Once Raduking's app is ready to go with most features/support, I'll be using that instead ;p

Hi raduking...Totally agree with you too..Before RK Launcher, i use only Y'zDock, cause is the most OSX dock for me, and OD, just a pale immitation... But RK Launcher are RK Launcher, forgot all comparaison and go for new idea...because for me is already the best of all :)

i was a OD user before trying RKLauncher, but after i got used to the REAL mac behaviour i gotta admit, that RKLauncher is FAR the best dock ever. i got a 21 items in the dock and the magnification is pretty slow.
i found a way to circumvent this behaviour. i just set the items to magnify" to 3 and its working okay.

greets stevie

RK seems choppier on mine, and I can't really notice the label fading in or out.

It seems promising though

OD is good with me for now, however

OD: the worst dock
MD: the smooth dock
YZ: the easiest dock
RK: OD+MD+YZ= the r0xing dock

Just think... a dock that combines best features of OD, MD, YZ, supports OD and YZ docklets, runs smooth, uses almost no memory... is it possible? "in your dreams, get a job" © Road Rash ;)

I think that further features additions (such as OD docklets support, importing YZ and OD themes) would make RK huge and slow... There must be a way to disable unneeded features.
The simplest way, I think, is to write small utilites that would convert objects (themes, background or any other stuff) into native RK format.
Then there can be plugins (for docklet support).
A very good example of writing very-small-yet-effective program is Miranda. In 0.4 even contact list is a plugin (that means you can disable it  ).
Or do you like your windoze, that includes tons of garbage you never use :) ?
