Konfabulator Opinions

Yes, the initial working set for konfab that gets brought in is largely unused cruft from MFC, etc. Since most of it is not used, it will get paged out if its not needed. People freak out about seeing large numbers there but it largely doesn't matter since the OS will page it when it needs memory. As long as those pages are not always hot, they'll just go to disk and you'll likely not see them ever again. Which is a good thing.

I don't see why we have people suggesting that we close this thread! I hate when there is what seems to me as a good discussion/debate that has a lot of useful information for many of the users such as myself. It is very helpful for me to read the varying opinions expressed in a discussion such as this one here and rather than feel like at any moment a beneficial forum could be halted. This is how I learn a lot about many of the different apps that are offered throughout the web.

My opinion:
just remember that Mac users are intelligent enough that they only had 3 posts per day on the initial release of Konfab.
chew on that a while

Windows has a huge userbase compared to Apple - more comments being made should be obvious...

If the entire userbase of Windows were using Konfab I would see your point, but the fact is that even to this date- more Mac users have Konfabulator installed than Windows users.
nice try though. Touche'

@Duckie: check previous page, there were some weird comments. Anyway I see nothing wrong in this thread, don't you people be afraid of normal, open discussion. Carry on.

Im not gonna waste my time explaining why I dont likes Konfabulator... or reply to anyones that dont likes my opinion... but basically I dont likes because it bad coded (read like, multiple instances, xml, etc (hey, wanna waste more, please code this in .NET and waste a lot more!. Who cares about resources, huh?), needs a lot of resources (that I need and I dont gonna waste may resources because an stupid toy), and you have to pay twenty or more AMERICAN dollars for a toy that I dont really needs... Ok, if you have most of the time your computer IDLE or you are idle too and you wanna waste some of your resources (like money (because you are idle) or memory/CPU (because your computer is used to PLAY games and download W/REZ) and you like that its your problem, not mine...

Pe8er should only need to say once that this is an open discussion and should be kept clean regardless of the opinion.
If you continue to use this as your soapbox, i wont be as nice as Pe8er.
These are opinions of fellow members, not definite rulings... see?
Be warned.

So far, we have seen a lot of controverse discussion, that's nice.
The developer of the windows port has promised some betterment at the memory issue.
Flames have been thrown and put out.
This piece of software really divides people -
those who like it, love it
those who don't, well you've seen.
It still has been a few days since release and we haven't yet discovered all of its benefits and shortcomings so there is more to come and the excitement is going to flatten out.
